C. Presenting Examples/instances of Present the story problem.

new lesson
Miss Ebuna surveyed her 13 pupils to know their favorite fruit.
She let them choose among Banana, Santol, Orange, Avocado, Apple.
The pupils picked their answers and pasted them on the board.

Conduct the survey in class. Let the pupils choose their favorite fruit.
Discuss the result of the survey in class.
1. What data or information were collected in our survey?
2. How many pupils were surveyed?
3. What would be a good title for this survey?
4. What is the most favorite fruit of the pupils?
5. What is the least favorite fruit of the pupils?
How can we arrange the data to see the most favorite
concept?

D. Discussing new concepts and Tell in class that the activity conducted was an example of a survey.
practicing new skills #1
What is SURVEY?
 A survey is a way of collecting data by asking people
questions either through questionnaires or interviews.

What is Data?
 Data can be defined as a collection of gathered information.
 They include characteristics that can be observed or
measured. We call these characteristics or quantities
variables or data items.

How do we collect Data?

 We collect data through Survey and Interview.

How to conduct a survey?

Step 1: Make a survey question. Write the question on a record
sheet as shown below.
Step 2: List 4 to 5 options for the survey question on the record
sheet.
Step 3: Survey 20 to 30 persons. Let each person to give only one
answer. Make a tally for each answer. Then add the tally marks for
each answer.
Step 4: Analyze the data or interpret the data.

Present another problem.

The Grade 4 pupils were asked about their favorite flowers. The
pictures below show the representation of the choices of the pupils.
Make a tally mark for each choice. Add the tally marks and write the
number on the frequency table.

FREQUENCY TABLE
What is a Frequency Table?
Is a list of items being surveyed. It uses tally marks to show the
number of times occur in the survey.

Tally marks are used to organize the data collected. Frequency is the
number of times an item occurs in a survey.
Present an example of a Frequency Table.
1. What is the most favorite flower of the pupils?
Answer: Sun Flower
2. What is the least favorite flower of the pupils?
Answer: Anthurium
3. How many pupils chose rose?
Answer: 4
4. How many pupils like rose and sampaguita?
Answer: 8

E. Discussing new concepts and How do we present the DATA?

practicing new skills #2 Bar Graph
It is used to compare data from different groups or periods. This can
be drawn either horizontally or vertically.

How to construct a BAR GRAPH?

1. Draw the vertical and horizontal axes and grids.

2. Decide what appropriate information to put in the vertical and

horizontal axes.

3. Label the vertical and horizontal axes

4. Find the highest number of responses and make a scale from 0 to
the highest number or greater in the table.

5. Draw the bar the corresponds to the number it represents in the

data.

6. Write a title for the graph.

Compare Vertical and Horizontal Bar Graphs

 In a horizontal bar graph, categories are listed in the vertical
axis while in the horizontal axis are frequencies or quantities.

F. Developing mastery Answer the questions based on the Bar Graph.

(Leads to Formative Assessment)
Mrs. Cruz took a survey about her pupil’s favorite subject and
make a tally mark for each choice. The result is shown below. Add
the tally marks and write the number on the frequency table.

1. How many pupils were included in the survey?

2. What is the most favorite subject of the pupils?
3. How many pupils prefer Araling Panlipunan?
4. How many more pupils prefer Science than Araling Panlipunan?
5. What is the difference of the number of pupils prefer Mathematics
than Araling Panlipunan?
G. Finding Practical applications of Let’s make a horizontal/vertical bar graph for the given data.
concepts and skills
Mr. Diaz, the Grade 4 MAPEH Teacher, conducted a survey
among his pupils on their favorite sports. The table shows the results
of the survey. Let’s make a horizontal/vertical bar graph from the
given data.

Sports Number of Pupils

Basketball 20
Volleyball 10
Baseball 15
Badminton 5

H. Making generalizations and How do we organize or present data/information?

abstractions about the lesson  To organize data or information, we make use of table and
bar graph.

I. Evaluating Learning
There are 50 kid - respondents in a survey about the activities
they commonly do at home. The table shows the results of the
survey. Construct a horizontal or vertical bar graph using the given
information.

Kids’ Activity at Home

Activities Number of Kids

Play Indoor 15
Read Books 10

Play Board Games 8

Do household chores 12

Watch TV 5

J. Additional activities for application Answer Additional Activities in your module on page 23.
or remediation
Study the table below then construct a single horizontal or vertical
graph. Make at least two or three questions about the graph.

V. REMARKS

the formative assessment
B. No. of Learners who require
additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No.
of learners who have caught up with
the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to
