The month of Ramadhan is such an

important month for building good
habits and reflecting on your
connection with Allah SWT. We felt
that journaling could be a useful
tool to help record and track your
journey through these significant
30 days.
The theme of this year’s journal is
‘Mercy’. Each day features a
different verse of the Quran
describing an aspect of Allah’s
Mercy, along with a related quote
from the famous Dua Abu Hamza
al-Thumali that further
emphasises the concept of the day.
While there is some structure to

the pages in this journal, we tried
to make it flexible enough that you
should feel free to use it in
whatever way will be most useful
for you, whatever that may look
like. We hope you’ll enjoy using
this journal and that its words may
make your days a little brighter,

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by
All praise be to Allah who shows compassion towards me as though I have not sinned.

A sinner should never feel unworthy of Allah’s mercy. In his love for the
human beings and desire to bring them close to Him, Allah accepts those
who are sincere and repent for their sins. Note that Allah describes sinning
as transgression against the self.
REFLECTION
No matter what you have done or how many wrongs you have
commited, Allah (swt) is always there and can forgive any

sin he may please, as he is the one who forgives all sins
and is the merciful. This quran verse comforts those who

feel like they can't talk to Allah about their problems
and issues in life. Someone who has sinned should never
feel like they are done for or that Allah wont forgive
them for their mistakes. As Allah does not like those who
give up their hopes for him, and give in to Shaytans
temptations to give up home in Allah. If you are sincere

and have a clean and sure niyat, Allah will forgive you,
just make sure to always believe that and not to repeat

Nabi Ya’qub (a) reminds his sons to never despair of Allah’s mercy. A
believer never despairs as Allah is too merciful not to respond to a sincere
heart that seeks closeness to Him.

I have made You my avenue for help, and supplications my medium to You, even though I do not deserve
And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness
of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful. 4:110
Had it not been the mercy of Allah and His grace on us we would have no
hope after sinning. But Allah calls us to Him and keeps open the door of
forgiveness so we can enter through it to Him.

...and indeed, it is difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And
Your kind compassion.

You have been liberal in granting to those in Your power, and You repeatedly give them (more) from

the people, Kind and Merciful. 2:143
Allah’s kindness encompasses all things. In difficult times remember that

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the
worlds. 21:107

Surely Your generosity is far above the punishment the sinners deserve, and Your compassion is far

All praise be to Allah whom I invoke and He answers me, even though I am sluggish in responding when

Allah has beautiful names that we can call upon. The Creator of the
heavens and the earth has allowed us to call upon Him and has promised
to answer us. That is a valuable key in our hands.

O my Master when I look into my record of sins it frightens me, but when I consider Your generosity I long for it
Say, "To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?" Say, "To
Allah." He has decreed upon Himself mercy. 6:12
Allah has decreed that He will deal with the human beings with mercy. In
our weakness we often fall short. But His mercy keeps us from going too
far from Him, so long as we sincerely want His closeness.

You I would have not known You.

Through Your help I became aware of You. You guided me towards You and invited me towards You. If it were not for
[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant
us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance".

The story of Ashabe Kahf reminds us of trust in Allah’s mercy. It is our

refuge and solace in all challenging occasions. It gives us hope and inner
strength to continue walking.

What am I, O Lord and what importance do I have? Favor me through Your grace, and be charitable towards me
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them
except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious
forgiveness. 15:85
Believers are asked to be gracious and forgiving. They are aware of the
truth and the transience of life of this world. Their love for Allah and desire
to acquire His forgiveness motivates them to be forgiving and gracious to
others.

Allah reminds believers to help others and overlook their faults. Everyone
has faults, including ourselves. If we want Allah to overlook our faults and
pardon us we need to do that with others.

And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters

What is the value of our deeds when compared to Your blessings? How can we consider our deeds many when we
Forgiveness and patience are not easy. They require self-control and inner
discipline. But their value in lifting up the human soul is high. It allows the
soul to free itself of the fetters that tie it to the lowly world of the self and
makes it transcend. Such achievement is only possible with the help of
Allah.

And we have absolute confidence in You on account of Your continuous pardoning, boundless kindness and limitless

Allah loves those who do good. Try to be good and spread goodness, to be
a source of goodness for others. Bringing comfort to the hearts of others
and making a difference on earth brings closeness to Allah. He loves His
creatures and loves those who do good to them.

All praise be to Allah who made Himself my guardian and thereby honored me and did not entrust me to others who may

Allah is merciful to all. But His special mercy is reserved for those who
believe in Him and submit to His commands. His mercy pours down on such
people, giving them inner strength and tranquility to deal with the
challenges of this world and rewarding them with the ultimate reward of
success in the hereafter.

Great are my expectations, O my Master, while my deeds are mediocre. So grant me, from Your benevolence, according
The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in
ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom
Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. 4:17
Allah knows the inner secrets of the heart. When people sincerely turn
back to Him after turning away, He also turns to them with forgiveness and
mercy. In fact, even the turning to Allah by them is a tawfiq from Allah.

So those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him - He will admit them to
Your promise of pardoning those who have a good opinion of You.

And I, O my Master, seek safety in Your kindness, I flee from Your Wrath towards Your Mercy, expecting fulfillment of
mercy from Himself and bounty and guide them to Himself on a straight
path. 4:175
Guidance on the right path is a favour and mercy from Allah. Were it not
for that we would have been lost. So we need to hold fast to His rope, be
always close to Him, and come back to Him when we move away.

[Musa] said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your
away, I will not move from Your door and I will not stop loving You.
O the Extensive Forgiver, O He who liberally spreads His mercy. I swear by Your Glory, O my Master, that if You push me
mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful". 7:151
Prophet Musa (a) asks Allah’s forgiveness and mercy for his brother and
himself. Allah is not only merciful, but the most merciful of the merciful
ones. That is very hope giving. ‘Admit us into Your mercy’ should be our
constant prayer and dhikr.

When the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may
Compassionate. This is not what we expect from You, nor what we desire.
Can You, O Lord, see Yourself falsifying our expectations or disappointing our hopes? No, by no means, O
receive mercy. 7:204
There are many opportunities for receiving the rain of Allah’s mercy. One
such opportunity is when the Quran is being recited. Listening to it
attentively shows reverence for the words of Allah. This reverence is a
cause of more mercy from Allah.

And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with
not desert us even though we do not deserve Your mercy [gives us hope].
O our Master, we know what we deserve due to our deeds, but Your knowledge of us and our knowledge that You will
Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah.
Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 73:20
Almighty Allah rewards human being with a reward that is much more than
what their deeds are worth. He forgives and overlooks the flaws in the
deeds and rewards the intention behind it. This is from His mercy and
grace to His creatures.

It is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds,
Our sins are before You. We ask You for forgiveness from them, O Allah, and we turn repentant to You.

It is from Allah’s mercy that He accepts those who turn repentant to Him
and forgives them. He has full knowledge of what they have done and why
they slipped but He is still gracious enough to overlook it and accept them.

He answers those who have believed and done righteous deeds and
our evil deeds are ascending to You.

You show us Your love through Your blessings but we repay You with sins. Your good is constantly descending to us and
increases [for] them from His bounty. 42:26
Allah has promised to answer those who call out to Him sincerely and
faithfully. He listens to them and gives them even more than what they ask
for. This is the hope we must have when we go to Him with our needs. He
can give us more than we have ever imagined.

Glory be to You for Your forbearance, Your greatness and Your generosity, originally and repeatedly.
Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it glorify with praise
their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have
believed, ‘Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and
knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and
protect them from the punishment of Hellfire’. 40:7
The angels know that Allah’s mercy covers all things. So they ask Him to
forgive and protect the sincere believers. This is additional support for the
human beings who are often weak and require assistance to reach close to
Allah.

O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing
deeds and mistakes. So, forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness, O my Master, O my Master, O my Master!
You are my Allah, whose grace is more vast and whose forbearance is far greater than to be compared with my (meagre)
for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. 10:57
The Quran is a Book of guidance which leads its followers to the right path.
Its teachings encompass all aspects of life. Such teachings lead human
beings to peace and happiness in both the worlds and is a gift for human
beings from the Merciful Lord.

Inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful. 15:49 26
We must announce the mercy of Allah to others and bring them closer to
Him through discussing His love and mercy. His punishment and anger

would achieve the ultimate victory of pleasing Allah.

O Allah Your compassion is more vast, and Your forbearance is greater than to give me what I deserve, or to make me

This has been described as one of the most hope giving verses of the
Quran. Not only is there a promise of forgiveness for the sincere repenters,
but also the additional promise of replacing evil deeds with good ones.
Such is the greatness of Allah’s mercy.

Allah has granted us more blessings than we can ever count. We are
