CORD WITH PLUG:
Purpose → AC power plugs and sockets connect electrical equipment to the alternating current
(AC) mains electricity power supply in buildings and at other sites.
How to check plug with cord using continuity test.
 Calibrate the multi-tester.
 Set the multimeter to continuity test mode.
 Test for a potential open circuit by using one multimeter lead to touch one of power cord.
 Use the other lead to touch the end of the console side of the power cord.
 If there is an adequate electrical connection the multimeter will beep.

ROTARY SWITCH:
Purpose → The purpose of the Rotary Switch in the power supply is to serve as a control device to
turn on and turn off our Power Supply or the one that opens and closes the circuit of our Power
Supply
How to check the wires using multi-meter using continuity test.

TYPES: Step Up
Step Down
The type of transformer we used is step down because from 220 Volts it will lower its output
by 12 Volts.
Step Down the Voltage needed by the circuit.

RECTIFIER DIODE:
Purpose → The purpose of the Rectifier diode is to convert or change from AC to Pulsating DC.
( TO CONVERT AC TO PULSATING DC)

 There is a rising and falling of the voltage.

 4 diodes we call the bridge type rectifier.

This is the symbol of a diode.

RESISTOR:
Function→ the function of a resistor is always to oppose the flow of current through it and the
strength of this opposition is termed its resistance.
Resistor Testing:

1) Get the value of (Ω).

2) Select the best range. (multiplier)
3) Short the test leads.
4) Adjust the zero ohms and adjust the knob.

LIGHT-EMITTING DIODE (LED)

Function→ Convert electrical energy into light.
Purpose→ This lead will serve as an Indicator Lamp so that we can tell that our power supply is on
when it lights up that means it is on and when it is off or not lit up it means that the power supply
is off.

ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITOR:
Function→ The first function is to put it in the circuit to block DC.
Purpose:
 Support for the output.
 Used to reduce voltage fluctuations in various filtering.
Symbol.
This is the symbol of capacitor.

ALLIGATOR CLIP:
Purpose→ To establish temporary electrical connections when clipped unto
terminals and components.
This is an example of alligator clip.
