guide to the long weekend
If you are anything like us, you have
been spending the summer months
in a pure state of bliss. That is, the
hardest physical effort you have put
in is getting to and from the beach or
mixing a midnight martini. And the
symptoms of a gluttonous, (wonder-
ful) life may have crept up on you.
Are your pants a little snugger than
normal? Is your face a little rounder
in photos? Perhaps you feel a little
bit softer everywhere?
Dont fret; these are all symptoms
of a summer well spent and are com-
pletely reversible. There are many
ways to counteract your happily
earned spare tire, while still having
more than enough fun.
Here are our suggestions for some
fantastic G rated activities for the
cooler days ahead:
Running: Will Smith once said,
Life is about running and reading.
We arent going to argue; have you
seen his body? Depending on your
level, sign up for a run. Vancouver
has a multitude of races to start
training for now.
Events to run towards in 2012:
Vancouver Sun Run: 10km on
April 15. A super fun event that is
typically a great goal for your first
publicly timed run.
Scotia Bank Half Marathon and
5k Walk/Run: June 24. UBC to Stan-
ley Park no sweat. Well, maybe a
lot of sweat.
BMO Vancouver Marathon:
May 6. If you do this, we will come
and cheer you on.
Need some inspiration to get you
in your running shoes and out the
door?
