COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is about comparative education in Home Economics to other subjects in the Philippines and internationally. It is designed around the outcomes
of inquiry, analysis, synthesis and evaluation of the curriculum with focus in Home Economics. This course examines the application of historiographical and
social scientific theories and method to international issues of education. Selected topics include national, global, political, economic, social and cultural impact of
education. Historical and contemporary examples are also used to emphasize the contributions and challenges of those involved in the field will be studied.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
Knowledge
1. Describe and explain the development of the field of comparative education.
2. Identify the field of comparative education and its areas for studies
3. Understand different approaches within comparative education and to be able to use and valuate different methods.
4. Comprehend the principles behind analysis of educational systems in different countries.

1. Set-up and valuate a research plan for a comparative study
2. Develop their written and oral skills when investigating and comparing international systems of education.
