BAYANING 3RD WORLD

The film that I watched in our class, Bayaning 3 rd world talks about the life of our national hero
Dr. Jose Rizal by the two filmmakers who examine and investigating the heroism of the Philippine
national hero. The first introduction of the film that catch my attention is the Philippine national symbols
such as national tree, the Narra, national animal and bird, Carabao and Agila, also it include our national
anthem and flag, Lupang Hinirang and Philippine national flag. The black and white aspect of the movie
gives me the impression that I am in the Hispanic era. This film introduced by the two filmmakers, who
are trying to create a film about Jose Rizal’s life so they start to investigating by interviewing the key
individuals in the relatives of Rizal such as his mother, Dina Teodora Alonso, also his siblings, Paciano,
Trinidad, and Narcisa and his supposed wife Josephine Bracken. They are carefully searching for an
answer and more questions to the history of Rizal. And finally, in order to learn more about the
problem, the two filmmakers would eventually "interview" Rizal.
For me knowing now the life of Dr. Jose Rizal, he deserves his title and agree as our national
hero because he was the first to start revolution and open the minds of Filipinos by his writing his
novels. He used his writing and time for publishing this. He travels around Europe and Spain to observe
Spanish government and connections. This movie investigates the debate and brings to life significant
figures from Rizal's life like Paciano, Fr. Rizal personally questioned Balaguer, Trining, Teodora,
Josephine Bracken, and even himself about the events of his final few days. And each character
response to the two filmmakers. I would say this film gives meaning of a true hero of Rizal and gives
importance of studying his life on how we are free from the colonization and redeemed from the
Spaniards
