Class Activities:

Answer the following questions and analyze the life of Rizal during the following month of his stay in the Philippines.
1 Why did Rizal decide to returned home and what did he experience on his way to Manila?
The following factors made him adamant about going back to the Philippines: first is to do eye surgery on his
mother and to help his people, who had long been subjected to tyranny by the Spanish and to learn firsthand how the
Filipinos and Spaniards in the Philippines were being impacted by the Noli and his other writings.
2 Assess Rizal’s life in Calamba and his profession as a doctor. Discuss why he was called Dr. Ullman?
Doctor Sanciano, in his Progreso de Filipinas, has taken up this topic, agitated, as he describes it, and relying
upon facts and reports provided by the exact same Spanish sources that Rizal used to heal their diseases and earned the
nickname "Doctor Uliman". In June of 1884, Rizal received the degree of Licentiate in Medicine at the age of 23. A hero
symbolizes goodness. The next stopover was in Aden. Doctor Uliman – Rizal was called this name because he came
from Germany.
3. Describe the attackers of the Noli and its defenders.
Basically, the attackers of noli and other works of Rizal is the Spanish friars that abusing their powers
manipulating and slaving Filipinos in the other hand the defenders of noli are rizal’s friends.
4. Analyze the relationship of Rizal and Lt. Jose Taviel de Andrade.
Rizal selected Taviel to represent him in court. The government gave Rizal the opportunity to choose his own
attorney from the list of names it had provided. Rizal picked him because he felt more at ease having a friend's brother
represent him in court.
5. Evaluate General Governor Terrero’s “advice” for Rizal to leave the country.
Rizal was summoned by Governor General Terrero, who "recommended" him to leave the Philippines for his own
good. Now, Rizal had to go. He had to leave Calamba for two reasons: first, his presence there was endangering his
friends' well-being and safety.
Watch: Jose Rizal Full Movie, Describe Jose Rizal as represented in the film.
The saying "Not all heroes wear capes" accurately describes Dr. Jose Rizal's life. He demonstrated in the film that
everything can be changed if you have the desire to do so. He is not the usual national hero who has engaged in numerous
battles involving swords, firearms, and blood; instead, he engaged in a literary conflict with the Spanish government. This
film demonstrated the might of a great intellect coupled with a pen and paper. In Dapitan, Dr. Jose Rizal experienced one
of his most productive times. During this time, he had been more committed to helping the populace and society. He
engages in community service, medical work, educational advocacy, child teaching, and several other activities that
advance and better our society.
He met Josephine Bracken at one point in his life. Dr. Jose Rizal came to truly love Josephine Bracken, and
because of their unwavering love for one another, they decided to get married. However, no priest was willing to officiate
their nuptials. However, this did not prevent them from being married; they made their individual vows before God
despite this. After some time, Josephine became pregnant as a result of their love. Sadly, Josephine had a preterm baby
who barely survived for three hours. The boy, whose name was Francisco in honor of Jose Rizal's father, was buried at
Dapitan. By the time Josephine became pregnant, I was furious with Rizal since it turned out that he was the cause of their
miscarriage. After being tortured psychologically and emotionally, Rizal's rage over the idea that her wife was a spy
caused her to miscarry their child. That Rizal's sole straight lineage was lost due to his own actions is extremely upsetting.
If he was simply a regular individual, he had probably already been forgotten. However, I think he truly deserved to be
our national hero because of how wonderful he was. Many people, especially those in Dapitan, looked up to him. The
young ones had a strong desire to follow all he had to say and teach since they genuinely loved and admired him. 16
young boys from well-to-do families attended the school he founded in Dapitan; they were not required to pay
matriculation fees; instead, they were expected to perform community service.
The life of Dr. Jose Rizal is like riding a roller coaster; although facing many obstacles, he was still able to
conclude the journey with a flourish. He gave his everything in the battle against the Spaniards, even sacrificing his own
life to further the interests of the entire nation. The final thing he uttered before being shot dead in Bagumbayan was
"consummatum est," which translates to "it is completed." It tore at the hearts of the Filipino people by the time he was
shot. And as a result of that incident, the Filipinos fought to reclaim their independence from the Spanish. Dr. Jose Rizal
helped the Filipino people come together and fight the Spaniards till the end of their colonial rule. Without his sacrifices,
the Filipinos' desire to regain our long-lost freedom would not have been aroused.
I would give the movie a 7 out of 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. The movie's plot is quite
intriguing, however the way it was made did not live up to my expectations. The actors and actresses did an excellent job
acting, however some of the events were unclear. Additionally, several viewers did not pay close attention to the movie
while they were viewing it, indicating that it lacked an attention-getting element. However, in general, I would still advise
you to see the film because it is an important aspect of our identity as Filipinos.
