Q1: Why I prefer the first letter ?

Ans:
I prefer the first letter effective because it follows a clear and organized structure. It begins
with a strong opening statement that clearly states the purpose of the letter - to apply for the post of
office manager. This helps the reader immediately understand what the letter is about and what the
applicant is seeking.
The letter then provides a brief overview of the applicant's qualifications and experience,
with specific details about their education, work history, and skills. This is important because it
provides the reader with concrete information about the applicant's background and how it relates
to the position being applied for.
The letter also includes a statement of enthusiasm and a desire for a new challenge, which
can be appealing to potential employers. This helps to show that the applicant is motivated and
eager to take on new responsibilities.
Finally, the letter ends with a polite and professional closing that leaves a positive
impression on the reader. This is important because it can help to make a lasting impression and
increase the chances of being considered for the position.
Overall, this letter is effective because it combines a clear and organized structure with
persuasive content that highlights the applicant's qualifications and enthusiasm for the position.

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to express my interest in the works manager position that was advertised in The
Guardian on 22 October 1982. Based on my qualifications and experience, I believe that I am the
right person for this role.

I attended school from 1950 to 1965 and obtained the General Certificate of Education. Later, I
studied Fibre Technology and Colour Chemistry at Bristol Technical College. Although my
grades in Math, Physics, and Chemistry were excellent, I pursued textile manufacture after
learning about the works manager position in your advertisement. I earned my Diploma in Textiles
from Bristol Technical College in 1968.

I have been Assistant Works Manager since 1978 and I was promoted to this role because of my
exemplary work ethic and experience. I worked at the Top Clothing Company from 1968 to 1973,
after which I joined my current company. I enjoy working in textile manufacture and I am
prepared to work hard to fulfil my duties as a works manager.

I am confident that Prior Productions, my current employer, will provide an excellent reference
for me. I hope that you will seriously consider my application for the works manager position.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Signature
