WORKSHOP : Conversation club

OBJECTIVE: Ss will practice future forms: will/will not/going to, by talking about today’s
ways of communication.
MATERIAL: board, markers and wall chart
PROCEDURE:
LEAD IN
 T will lead by talking about the last time he used the common mail to send a letter to
a friend. T will ask Ss if they had use it before. T will elicit information from Ss.
 Then, T will write on the board the word “communication”. T will ask what the
meaning of that word is. T will elicit information from Ss. Then, T will ask Ss if they
think it is difficult to communicate with other people in these days.
PRE-SATGE
 Then, working in a mind map T will ask Ss to tell him different ways of
communication we have today. T will write on the board Ss’ answers.
 T will take the word cell phone from the mind map. T will Ask Ss if they think it is
easy to communicate with other people by txt in the phone.
 T will show Ss a message his friend sent him last weekend (see: letter A). T will ask
Ss to tell him what is meaning of those words. T will ask Ss to work in pairs in order
to write the message in the correct way. T will set up time and will monitor Ss. At the
end T will check Ss’ work and will correct them if necessary.
DEBATE:
 T will ask Ss to divide into two groups. One group will agree with the use of those
kinds of messages and the other group will be against. T will tell Ss they have to give
good arguments in order to defend their position. T will give Ss some time to take
notes and prepare themselves for a short debate.
 T will ask one group to start giving his reasons to use txt from now on. Then, T will
ask the other group to give their reasons against the first group. T will monitor Ss and
will help them to express their ideas if necessary.
 At the end, T will stop the debate and will thank both parts for their participation.
Then, T will ask Ss to tell him what they think is the best way of communication and
why. T will elicit information from Ss. T will thank Ss for coming and will finish the
class.

OBJECTIVE: Ss will practice the present continuous with a future meaning by talking
about activities they would like to do before they are 70.

MATERIAL: board and markers.


PROCEDURE:
LEAD IN:
T will lead in by talking about what his grandfather told him: “live everyday as if it were the
last one in your life”. T will ask Ss their opinion about that sentence. T will elicit Ss’
answers. Then, T will write on the board some activities people can do before get very old.

PRE-STAGE
T will give instructions for the activity: T will ask Ss to choose five activities from the board
they would like to do before they are 70. After that, T will ask Ss to get together in pairs and
talk about their choice and give the reasons.
T will model an example. T will set up time and will monitor the activity.

TALKING TIME:
T will ask Ss to elaborate a schedule in which they are going to do those activities (they have
only one week). T may model an example. Then T will set up time for the activity. T will
stop the activity and will ask Ss to go to the board and talk about their schedule. T will help
Ss if necessary.
T will finish the class and will thank Ss for coming.
