Mobility Assisting Device

CRUTCHES (tripod position, 3 fingers armpit to crutch pad, 6 inches by side)

2 point gait- advance left foot and right crutch, followed by right foot and left
crutch

3 point gait- advance both crutches followed by your good and bad leg

4 point gait- advance right crutch, followed by left foot then left crutch followed
by right foot

Swing to- advance both crutches then swing your legs on the same level of your
crutches

Swing through- advance both crutches then swing your legs through the your
crutches

Ascending- advance good leg followed by crutches together with your bad leg

Descending- advance crutches together with weak leg followed by good leg

CANE (always stay on the strong side of the patient)

2 point gait- advance the cane together with the weak leg, followed by strong leg

3 point gait- advance the cane, followed by weak leg then strong leg

Ascending- advance good leg followed by cane together with the weak leg

Descending- advance cane and weak leg together, followed by strong leg

WALKER

2 point gait- advance the walker together with the weak leg, followed by strong
leg

3 point gait- advance the walker, followed by the weak leg then the strong leg
