Introductory Message
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but one cannot truly appreciate beauty
without getting deeper on how it all began and how it had been created.

Art is everywhere and it comes in different forms. This quarter, you will
rediscover the evolution of art from its beginnings to its forms of today. You will realize
then that they just did not exist from nowhere, rather they were created with a process
in mind.

This learning module in Creative Industries 1, you will learn the various art
forms and deepen your understanding of certain artworks in the context of history and
culture that may change your first impressions.

For the Facilitator/ Parent

Your role as a teacher-facilitator is to orient the learners on how to use this


module, keep track of the learners’ progress as they manage their own learning and
be available to answer questions and provide explanations about the activities and
exercises in this module. The parents’ role is to help guide and monitor their child’s
performance in accomplishing the activities required for this module and to submit to
the teacher/school the required outputs.

Introduction

Art is a self-expression of one’s emotions and creativity. There are no


boundaries to an artist’s imagination.

In this module you will uncover that though art has no rules, it certainly has
building blocks that makes an artist a beginner to a master. Art has a language that all
artists understand just in viewing an artwork.

You will learn that these building blocks in creating masterpieces include the
basic materials, tools, and processes in the production of visual, media and applied
arts. In fact, art has evolved in so many ways including its practices in crafting, whether
software or traditional. As we go along, brace yourself to unearth what works for you
to become the master artist you want to be soon!

Instructions: Summer vacation has just ended but we stayed at home for months to be
safe from the pandemic. If you could bring back time and travel to any
place you want, where could have you been? Picture that scene in your
mind and paint it on an empty canvas or any painting surface or support
you have at home.

Engagement No. 4: APPEAR, DISAPPEAR, ONE HALF!

Instructions: As a young artist, you are already starting to discover your specialty in
art and the medium to use. In this activity, unveil the other basic materials
used in some visual art forms composed of pigments, binders and
solvents. Write the missing half of the terms with the help of the given

Instructions: Baybayin is a pre-colonial writing used by early Filipinos. However, it was


later replaced with the Latin alphabet by the Spaniards. With the use of
the modern baybayin chart by Lloyd Zapanta and its meaning, decode
each item to reveal the artists’ procedures in creating effects in an art
composition. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. In
decoding, spell it as it sounds and make necessary corrections with you
spelling since this is a Tagalog Stylized Baybayin Font.

Mini-Lesson
The process of producing artworks has three parts however it doesn’t follow a
progressive sequence: 1) preproduction, 2) production, and 3) postproduction. In
preproduction, an artist begins with the idea or concept that he or she desires to
communicate to the public. In the production phase of various art forms, artists need
to be acquainted with the basic materials, tools, and processes in art. In the previous
module, we have already discussed that these various art forms have been classified
into 2D, 3D and 4D due to their differences in materials and processes in production.

Various art forms such as painting, photography, prototyping, mosaic, 4D


applications, and casting use different art materials to produce its final output.
However, basic art materials such as “media” are used in traditional art forms such as
drawing, painting, and printmaking. They use the following pigments/colored
substances together with their respective binders and solvents that bind and suspend
them on flat surfaces (2D), like paper, canvas and even cave walls.

Media are mode of expression in which the concept, idea, or message is


delivered. The technique of the artwork shows the level of familiarity with the medium
being manipulated.

Visual Art Media

Charcoal It is made from burned wood used to make very dark marks.

Aside from these traditional art forms that include some 3D art such as
sculpture, installation and kinetic art, art has developed into a time-based and new
media art (3D/4D) with the evolution of technology throughout the years. From the
traditional use of film roll with 36 negatives, brushes with natural/ synthetic bristles, flip
book animation, kodak, instant film camera and red room/ dark room, today we make
use of digital software, applications and gadgets like stylus pen, tablet as canvas,

photoshop express, picsart, and many more. Using them for the first time seem to be
complicated but with constant use and practice, manipulating them will then be easier.

On top of these materials, artists integrate and apply the elements and
principles of art to produce a composition. They are considered the foundation and the
language of art. The elements of art are visual tools while the principles of art are the
procedures in creating effects to a good composition.

Elements of Art
The path of a moving point. Creates an outline or contour.
Line
Can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, straight, and curved.
The contour of a flat object. It is Two-Dimensional.
Shape
A closed space made when a line connects to itself.
It has weight, width, and depth.
Form
A shape that is or appears to be three dimensional.
An object’s internal/ external areas.
Space
May be positive (subject) or negative (background).
An object’s brightness/ darkness.
Value
Tints make color lighter and shades make it darker.
The visible spectrum of reflected light. An object’s chromatic quality.
Color
It has the 3 attributes; hue, value and intensity or saturation.
The tactile quality of a surface.
Texture
Can be seen (simulated) or felt (actual).
The language in visual form. Can be read, used as a shape and visual

element. It does not need photograph/ illustration when used well.

Principles of Art
It is achieved when the elements of an artwork come together

Life has been very tough but good thing my passion has been helping
me out to pay the bills.
Dulce : Yeah, everybody is struggling but this pandemic has brought so much
life to online business and our local products. I’m glad that you finally
pursued your love for pottery and painting.
Esmie : Well, our last conversation about the actress, fashionista and artist
named Heart Evangelista made me realize that we can make a living out
of our passion for art.
Dulce : So true! appreciating

Esmie : I just love how her acrylic leather paint, brushes, and colored markers
create vibrant images of birds, flowers, and elegant ladies that match
her clients’ personalities in her posts and vlogs.
Dulce : It takes a long and tedious process of transforming bags, but it comes
with a price amounting to P900,000.00 each. Can you believe that?
Esmie : And imagine, it all began as an accident, when she spilled cheese fries
on her orange designer bag. So, she decided to paint it herself!
Dulce : As what they say, nothing happens by accident, it is your destiny. Just
like what this pandemic has brought you to your love for pottery and
painting. I know it will flourish not only because of your talent and skill
but also with your passion, persistence, and hard work.

farmer to let him live. Fill in each layer of the web respectively with your
