Product Description

My product will be a training soccer ball that tells the user where to hit it to complete a specific
kind of pass or shot while tracking other factors like speed, altitude, and placement (for shots). It
will be called the pelota pro. The way it will work is that the soccer ball has sensors and will light
up in the area where the user needs to kick the ball to complete the pass or shot. There will also
be an app the user needs to download on their smartphone, smartwatch, or AR device ex.
Microsoft HoloLens or Lenovo Smart glasses. This app will come with a list of options that the
user can choose from to master with the soccer ball such as long-range passes/ shots,
knuckleballs, backspin passing, and an array of other options. It will also tell the user what part
of the foot to hit it with, giving animated instruction. As for the price, the ball will be around $250
USD. The standard professional match ball costs around $160 USD.

The FIFA 2022 World Cup used new ball technology by inserting a rechargeable microchip used
by the VAR system to provide data for officials to make more accurate game call decisions.
What sets my product aside from the only other soccer ball that uses technology is that it has
light-up features and an app to be paired with and is intended to be used for training rather than
games. With each purchase, each ball has a unique QR code that can be scanned while using
the app that registers the ball and allows the user access to the different forms of training
lessons. The ball can still be used for games but the light-up technology won’t be able to be
active during official games. As mentioned, my product is the only other soccer ball to use
technology in the ball giving users a unique form of training.

Target Market and Unmet Need

My target market is anyone who knows and loves the game of football. This ball is intended to
be used by professionals like Lionel Messi or Alex Morgan or local clubs middle school, high
school, college level, and beyond. Since the ball is priced at a higher end, it’s meant to be
bought by people who are serious about excelling in the sport. While it is encouraged for people
who are looking to take a step to the next level, any gender, age, or skill level can use the
soccer ball.

While professional athletes always get the opportunity to use professional equipment, my
product will be set to be used by anyone not quite at the professional level. From anywhere from
club soccer players to college athletes the ball is a great training tool to make these players
better. The soccer ball company even plans on working with college student-athletes to spread
the word about the ball through advertising and NIL deals.

The customer should be able to buy one ball that will last 10 years before needing a new
replacement chip to complete light-up features and skill teaching. The ball will need to be
shipped back to the company HQ for required and included maintenance that comes upon
purchasing a ball. While shipping costs towards replacing the microchip should be completed by
the customer, the maintenance work is entirely covered by the life plan included when
purchasing one of the soccer balls.

Size of Market
With around forty million regular soccer balls being sold each year, we predict that we could
reach a hundred thousand customers in the first year and millions by the second year. Soccer is
the most commonly played sport in the world, so I have no doubt that the pelota pro will do well
in its first few years.
