ACTIVITY: The Life of an iPhone

Organizational Analysis

Activities Environmental Aspect Environmental Impact

Inbound logistics Transport of raw materials (minerals) to Italy, Global warming and climate change.
Germany, United States, etc. that contributes
to greenhouse gas emissions.

Operations During the processing of making an iPhone, Air pollution

the raw materials that are needed such as
Aluminum, Cobalt, Tungsten, Gold, Tin, Zinc,
Copper, Iron, Nickel, Gallium, Tantalum, and
etc. are soldered and burned to produce chips
and other parts that emits a high amount of
greenhouse gases.

Outbound logistics iPhones are transported from manufacturing Global carbon emmission
site to 25 distributing countries using a plane
which is one of the largest polluting
transportation method.

Marketing and sales iPhones are set to have a lifespan of 4 years Pollution of water and soil
and 3 months but consumers tends to buy the
newly released one because of improved and
upgraded software, features and most
importantly its camera. Since iPhones are very
much overrated and overly hyped, consumers
either dispose their current iphones and buy
new ones most especially that iPhones
releases new ones every year mostly by the
month of september.

Service Apple’s recycling and repurposing of iPhones Pollution of water and land
have a little human interaction because they
have a robot named Daisy but if the customers
did not follow the right disposal of an iPhone,
it will be harmful for the environment.
