My flight to Tokyo is delayed due to/because of bad
weather conditions. The plane will take off when the
lightning storm stops. It will depart 2 hours late. Sorry,
I will be late for the meeting.

other precipitation (rain, snow, the amount of rain that falls).
Lightning is a short electrical discharge that produces a flash of light in the
sky.
Congestion is the state of being overcrowded, especially with traffic or
people.
A mechanical failure means that some part of the machinery is broken or
not working properly.
