    Expanding Sentences
     
    One  of  the  great  ways  to  enhance  your  writing  is  to  work  on  HOW  you  write.  Great  writers  tend  to  create  a  variety  of  sentence  
    lengths  in  one  paper  so  that  their  paper  has  a  better  “flow”.  We  call  this  sentence  fluency,  one  of  our  6  Traits  of  Writing.  We  
    will  be  doing  a  little  practice  to  help  us  create  smooth,  and  detailed  writing  so  that  our  papers  can  be  full  of  life.  
     
    Directions:  Take  the  following  short  sentences,  and  expand  them  using  more  detail  such  as  verbs,  adjectives,  and  imagery.  
    Think  of  the  5  Senses  and  think  about  how  you  could  incorporate  those  to  expand  your  sentence.  
     
    Example:  The  pizza  smelled  good.  
    Expand  Example:  The  scent  of  the  scorching  pizza  was  oozing  and  melting  cheese,  and  drifted  into  my  nostrils  and  smelled  
    delicious.
