ABSTRACT

Excavators are one of the most important and widely used heavy-duty earthmoving
machines , excavator is a piece of heavy equipment that is commonly used in
construction work, mining work and work that requires lifting any material that can
be too heavy for humans, In general versatile construction operations, such as
digging, ground leveling, carrying loads and dumping loads. During heavy
excavation operation that affects machine parts and may fail. Normally backhoe
excavators are working under worst working conditions. Due to severe working
conditions, excavator parts are subjected to high loads and must work reliably
under unpredictable working conditions. There are many important parts in
excavator like Bucket, Arm and Boom. It is necessary for the designers to provide
not only a equipment of maximum reliability but also of minimum weight and cost,
keeping design safe under all loading conditions. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is
the most powerful technique for strength calculations of the structures working
under known load and boundary conditions. FEA approach can be applied for the
Optimization of Hydraulic Excavator. In this paper we will focus on different FEA
techniques that can be used for analysis and optimization of hydraulic excavator
under working loading conditions.
