Theory: Structural-functionalism- because the of the disfunction of the government; unable to provide

Applying Conflict Theory

Substandard residency- conflict theory would argue that those in positions of power
(such as landlords, property developers, and government officials) benefit from maintaining a
system in which low-income individuals are forced to live in substandard housing. This allows
them to extract more profit from these individuals, while also maintaining their control over the
housing market.

Insufficient minimum wage is rooted in the power dynamics between workers and
employers. Those in positions of power (such as business owners and executives) benefit from
paying low wages, as this allows them to increase their profits and maintain control over their
workforce. On the other hand, workers are often unable to negotiate for higher wages due to
their limited bargaining power.

Lack of education, conflict theory would point to the ways in which education is used to
maintain existing power structures. Those in positions of power are able to access high-quality
education and use it to maintain their advantage over others. Meanwhile, those with limited
access to education are often unable to challenge these power structures or improve their social
and economic status.
