    Activity: Read the Case Study of MIS at DELL then do what is asked:

    1) Make a diagram for the MIS of DELL and suggest some improvements in the
    same.
    2) MIS is a combination of Management, Information and System. Among these
    three, in what area is DELL lacking? Why?

    Answer:

    Management information system involves the information system and the


    organization. Dell benefits a lot from the management information system. The
    system helps the company create strategies that will help the company conquer
    any problems and threats from competitors. The system also assists the company
    in processing the needed information. Management Information Systems also
    helps a company to create or update its inventory control system.

    2) Dell’s inventory turnover rate of 60 times per year compares to 12-15 times for
    most indirect vendors. Perhaps most important are the benefits that Dell gains
    from the direct customer relationship. The flexible, build-to-order manufacturing
    process enabled us to turn over inventory every five days on average, thereby
    reducing inventory levels, and rapidly bringing the latest technology to
    customers. Dell don’t have their own management team that is handling the
    inventory control and output records that might be a weakness of the company.
