TECHNOLOGICAL

INCLUSIVITY
ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES FOR
THE IPHONE XR
Today's smart phones, including the
iPhone XR, come standardly equipped with
many features intended for ease of
accessibility.

In order to access these features, simply


open the Settings application and scroll
down to select the "Accessibility" option.
Having entered the Accessibility menu, you
will find that the features are organized
into 4 distinct groups.These groups are:

Vision
Physical & Motor
Hearing
General
VISION
VOICEOVER
The first accessibility tool we will look at is the VoiceOver
feature found in the Vision group.

VoiceOver is a perfect tool for students who have difficulty with


vision. It will read aloud whatever is on the iPhone's screen!
Once activated, simply tap what you would like to have read and
the phone will read the text to you.
PHYSICAL & MOTOR

VOICE CONTROL

For students who experience limitations in


motor skills, the Voice Control feature allows
you to control the iPhone using your voice!

After setting up your Voice Control, you can


further enhance the amount of control you
exert by customizing commands or adding
additional vocabulary, among other options.
PHYSICAL & MOTOR

TOUCH

For students experiencing difficulty with touch, this section


is here to help you. A plentitude of options exist in this
menu found in the Physical & Motor group to assist you in
accessing the phone to its fullest extent.

Among these options include the addition of an adaptive


accessory, the ability to adjust how the screen will
respond to touch, and a reachability option. You are
encouraged to explore and find out which functions are
most beneficial!
HEARING
HEARING DEVICES
For students who experience difficulty with
hearing, the iPhone XR is made to be easily
paired with hearing aids and sound processors.

All you need to do is select the Hearing Devices


option under the Hearing group in order to pair
your Bluetooth device!
GENERAL

TRANSLATE
For students who are still learning English or who
are in need of assistance with language
interpretation, the iPhone XR comes standardly
equipped with a Translate application.

Accessible from the home screen or search bar,


the Translate application does just that -
translates. There are a multitude of languages to
select from, and you can either type or speak.
Apple has taken deep
consideration with their
inclusion of assistive
technology in their iPhone XR.
