How to get to

Students with hearing aids

On an iPhone there is a setting that allows it to better work


with potential hearing devices that students might need.

The setting adjusts sound frequency, quality and volume to


better work with a student’s hearing device. The setting will
also turn off noise cancellation.

To turn on hearing aid compatibility:

1. From the home screen go to settings


2. In the main menu choose accessibility
3. Select hearing devices
4. Turn on hearing aid compatibility
Text settings

There are so many settings that allow students to adjust text


and visuals on their iPhones to fit them better.

The settings range from text size to changing contrast


settings. These settings can adjust to each individual’s needs
and preferences.

To adjust Display & Text Size:

1. From the home screen go to settings


2. In the main menu choose accessibility
3. Select Display & Text Size
4. Turn on the settings that are most helpful
Hands free usage

On iPhones there are accessibility settings that allow people


who cannot use their hands to work the screen of their phone
to work the phone without hands

The setting allows the user to control their phones with their
voice rather than using their hands. They can program their
phone to complete certain actions on saying a specific word
or words.

To set up voice control:

1. From the home screen go to settings


2. In the main menu choose accessibility
3. Select Voice Control
4. Select Set Up Voice Control
5. Go through the on screen instructions
Listen to what is on Screen

There is an accessibility setting that allows people to listen


to the text on screen instead of reading it or skimming
through it.

The setting can read in any language and is especially


helpful when a student wants to listen to something in a
different language to better learn to pronounce the words.

To turn on Spoken Content:

1. From the home screen go to settings


2. In the main menu choose accessibility
3. Select Spoken Content
4. Turn on Speak Selection
5. Turn on any other helpful settings in the list
Hard of hearing

The iPhone allows people to turn on audio descriptions


when there is audio being played and closed captions are no
available.

This settings helps people who are hard of hearing get a


sense of the sounds that are happening on screen when it is
not part of a video but rather ambient noises.

To turn on Audio Descriptions:

1. From the home screen go to settings


2. In the main menu choose accessibility
3. Select Audio Descriptions
4. Turn on the setting
