Trivia About the Literature (James):

Walang known author ang The Cherished daughter since it was written in 1700 AD but
it was translated by Nguyen Ngoc Bich
 From World Poetry: An Anthology of Verse from Antiquity
This long-awaited, indispensable volume contains more than 1600 poems drawn from
dozens of languages and cultures, and spans a period of more than 4000 years from
ancient Sumer and Egypt to the late twentieth century.
 Follows a certain culture that a suitor must meet the demands of the parent of a
woman.
Makikita dito sa poem na ito ang pagsunod ng isang magulang sa isang tradisyon
subalit ito ay nagkaroon ng negatibong epekto sa kayang anak.

In each line we can observed that a daughter has repeatedly asked her mother on when

Free Verse

(Explanation: The word plan and Quan are the only rhyming words found in the poem
but it does not mean that it has a rhyming pattern. So, overall it is free verse poetry as
the daughter wants to express her feelings and emotions in which a rhyming scheme is
not necessary.)

Repetition
Explanation: This statement has been repeated many times and the age of the daughter
is the only part of it that has been changed .)

Trivia About the Literature (Mariah)
Sa poem na ito ay may isang students nagkwento ng kanyang naranasan about sa war
in Vietnam. Dito ay siya ay humihingi ng sorry sa mga naaabala niya .
Ang war na nabanggit ay totoong nangyari sa Vietnam. (Iexplain ito pero wag directly
English para di halatang binabasa).

The Vietnam War was a long, costly and divisive conflict that pitted the
communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and its
principal ally, the United States. The conflict was intensified by the ongoing
Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. More than 3 million
people (including over 58,000 Americans) were killed in the Vietnam War, and
more than half of the dead were Vietnamese civilians.

Persona
(Explanation So, it became a persona because the author portrayed a student character
that he used to narrate his experiences. One key way to identify a literary persona is
to think about the narrator or speaker and decide whether that character really matches
with the biography of the writer.)
