SAQ 1

How well did you get each principle? Explain at least three principles underlying the teaching of
writing.1

1. Writing literacy starts in the early years of child development- Literacy development is the
process of learning words, sounds, and language. Children develop literacy skills in order to
learn to read and write confidently and eventually improve their communication skills overall. It
is closely linked to a child's earliest experiences with books and stories.

2. Writing is a creative act- When we write we are performing a creative act. We are quite
literally creating a novel idea. Our words make up people and places that did not exist until we
gave them life. 'The creative process is the act of making new connections between old ideas or
recognising relationships between concepts. When we write we are performing a creative act.

3. Writing experiences should be child-centered- Children's experiences with writing and

creating texts is an important avenue for self-expression in early childhood. These experiences
also support precursors to their later reading and writing development. As children are
scaffolded by educators to participate in more varied experiences with writing, their ability to
create complex, multimodal texts develops: Young children begin to explore written
communication by scribbling, drawing and producing approximations of writing.

Have you ever experienced something terrible and bad memories to happen? For me yes.
Last year when they implemented the lockdown. I stayed at home and followed the rules. But in
the next morning I got bored and stress because of the silent surrounding that I want to go out
but it's not safe. It's like I was stuck in a bad dream that I want to go out and to feel the bright
sun. I am the only one who stayed at home that my family are in my grandmother's house. That
I didn't buy any stock food to eat before they implemented the lockdown. I was very lonely and
no one to talk in real person. We still communicate using mobile phone but I got lonely in the
house alone. In the next morning I did some cleaning to let my boredom remove and to make
myself busy so that I will not think negatively in my surroundings.

1. How would you rate yourself as a teacher of writing? Do you agree that teachers spend less
time in isolation checking and grading papers?2

- I will rate myself as a teacher of writing as excellent to very good because I always do my very
best and striving more and do some efforts to it. I don't think so like us learners, teacher are
tired doing our modules and out of all those modules multiplied by the number of the pupils is a
big number.
