II. RATIONALE
DECS Order 26, s.1997 or the Institutionalization of SPED Programs in All Schools, and DepEd Order No. 72, s.
2009 or the Inclusive Education as Strategy for Increasing Participation Rate of Children started to implement the
need to collaboratively develop and facilitate effective programs for children with special needs. One of these
programs is to implement strategies or pedagogies that are responsive to learners with disabilities, gifts and talents
which was issued under DO No. 044, s. 2021. Research continues to confirm that teachers can ensure them in
receiving specialized instructions designed to meet their needs. According to National Association for Gifted Children
(2019), these learners have the capability to perform at higher levels compared to others of the same age,
experience, and environment in one or more domains. In order to achieve it, the teachers must design, adapt and
implement activities based on learners’ educational experiences to learn and realize their potential.
III. OBJECTIVES
As an outcome of this activity, participants are expected to be capacitated to:
1. Assess the special needs of the learners with disabilities, gifts, and talents.
2. Discuss successful strategies for teaching and supporting learners with disabilities, gifts, and talents.
3. Adapt successful strategies in teaching and supporting learners with disabilities, gifts, and talents based on their
skills, and experiences.
4. Design a strategy that is responsive to a variety of learners with disabilities, gifts, and talents.
