Activity 2

1. What is the advantage of Sophist education system?

It provided education that was intended to support and encourage success in

the public sphere. The Sophistic movement, which brought about significant
developments in rhetorical theory, had a significant role in the growth of oratory style. It
appears that all of the Sophists offered instruction in rhetoric and the art of speaking.
The Sophists shifted the emphasis of education away from traditional subjects and
toward more active and interesting pursuits while still including traditional religious and
moral principles.

2. Explain why arrogance is the enemy of wisdom?

Since it distorts our perception of our abilities and traits, arrogance is the enemy
of wisdom. That might not be all that important by itself. But there are repercussions. If
I place too much value on myself, I may apply for positions for which I am not qualified, I
may consider some individuals to be less than I am, and I may get resentful of others
who are given positions I believe I should hold. My relationships and well-being suffer
from such mindsets. Wisdom helps us see ourselves objectively. It enables us to
recognize our advantages and disadvantages. It neither exaggerates nor diminishes our
abilities. This is definitely not simple to accomplish. Most people undoubtedly overrate
themselves occasionally. And when we're down, we could go too far in the opposite
direction and underestimate ourselves. Both false humility and arrogance are
condemned by wisdom. It makes an effort to keep an objective perspective of the self,
in part by listening to others or seeing how they react to the self's words and deeds.
