A JOURNEY TO REMINISCE
TIMELINE

1901
MANILA TRADE SCHOOL (MTS)
In 1901, TUP was first established as Manila Trade School. It was upon the enactment of
Act No. 74 by the United States of Philippine Commission for the instruction of the
Filipinos on useful trades.
1910
PHILIPPINE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES (PSAT)
MTS was renamed as the Philippine School of Arts and Trades (PSAT) in 1910 which
they also started offering intermediate grade courses and upgraded in offering
secondary level curriculum in 1915.
1959
THE PHILIPPINE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND TRADES (PCAT)
In June 17, 1959 PSAT was again renamed as Philippine College of Arts and Trades
(PCAT) pursuant to RA No. 2237. In this time, they already offering art, industrial and
technology related programs and became popular for giving a high quality education.
1978
TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP)
PCAT converted into what we are using in today's generation, the Technological
University of the Philippines (TUP) by virtue of President Decree No. 1518 on June 11,
1978. And continually elevates what the school have started from the year it was
PRESENT started.
