A new method of education

Blended learning is becoming a standard in many schools around the world. With this
learning method, the student-teacher dynamic work out differently. On one side students do not
seem to have a problem with blended learning but teachers don't seem to adapt as well,
especially older teachers. This method has many reasons to be used, and its effects are visible in
every classroom

There are two main reasons why schools are adopting blended learning. First, this
method is full of tools and resources for students and teachers. With the internet, students have
access to the latest textbooks and video guides; literate teachers can create quizzes and
interactive activities as well as lectures which students can go over again as many times as they
want. This is connected to the second cause; students can set their own pace of learning. With
this many tools, students who have problems attending classes or keeping up can study at their
own speed without affecting anyone else. Furthermore, more literate students won’t have to
slow down and feel bored during lectures, learning at the best pace for themselves.

Blended learning has shown two main positive effects and one main negative effect on
students. Most students have a better understanding of the syllabus with blended learning. Not
only because they can choose the pace they study, and have access to a number of resources, but
also because teachers are more present during classes, giving special attention to each student.
Also, it has been proven that students feel more comfortable in blended classrooms. Students´
level of anxiety drops with these methods. Moreover, their level of commitment to learning is
higher, they are more engaged in the topics. On the other side, there also are negative effects.
The young have problems learning without technology. Because they get used to the
commodities internet has, studying and searching for information with textbooks can be a pain
for students.

To conclude, blended learning is becoming more and more popular. There are many
reasons why, the number of resources for students and teachers’ technology brings, added that
students are able to set their own pace of learning with this method. As a result, students have a
better understanding of the lectures and feel more comfortable at school, in exchange for being
more dependent on technology. All in all, blended school is a type of learning that is able to
bridge between the best of multiple other methods of learning.
