ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
AIM
The main aim of this module is to provide you with the basic concepts and theories in
understanding the mechanism of human behaviors, where motivation and emotion as the
foundations, and to becoming literate and critical consumers of psychological studies.
OBJECTIVES
To examine concepts and issues related to motivation and emotions
To develop awareness of the roles of psychologists in helping people to understand their
behaviors and emotions
ASSESSMENT
Assessment for this module consist of two components detailed below:
Assessment 1 - Written Essay (Individual) (50%): Details of this assessment component
are provided below.
Assessment 2 – Presentation (Group) (50%): Based on the essay topic in Assessment 1,
you are required to prepare for a presentation.
You are required to work INDIVIDUALLY and produce an 1800-word academic essay.

Students MUST answer the question provided in the titles above exactly. Changes to the
title will NOT be accepted and changes will be assumed to be evidence of possible
plagiarism or copying and essays will be subjected to special scrutiny. Changes to the title
may make the essay impossible to mark, even if there is no evidence of plagiarism. Please
be very careful to ensure that the final written product is your own work.
Please note that word limits on this assignment need to be carefully observed. A variation
of up to +/- 10% on word limits will be accepted, but if you exceed this variation you will
be penalized. Again, this regulation is put in place to ensure that comparisons across
assignments are fair to all students.
Late submission of assignment will be penalized by 10 marks per day, and submission
more than 3 days late receive no marks, unless justifiable reason is being provided.
Extensions based on non-medical considerations will only be approved in exceptional
circumstances, and approval should normally be sought before the due date for the
assignment. These regulations are put in place to ensure that all students are treated
equally and fairly.
