of Native Brythonic Language
and Tribal Germanic Language
and it used Alliteration and
Kennings in their poetry.

- Their poetry was mostly sung
instead of written.

ANGLO NORMAN or MIDDLE ENGLISH
PERIOD 1066 TO 1500 AD
- Rich French culture and language was
brought by the Normans and it falls
under Norman-French Literature or
Anglo-French Literature, and also
called as Middle English Period since
it falls under Medieval Times in
Britain History.
- People from upper class spoke French
while the lower class spoke Old
English.
- They introduced romantic tales of
love and adventure in literature,
wherein the stories had the origin in
Latin and French sources..
- Along with this form of writing are,
chronicles, religious, didactic writing,
poetry and drama.
RENAISSANCE PERIOD 1500 TO 1660
AD
- Also known as Elizabeth Period of
the Age of Shakespeare and in fact
it Is considered as the “golden
age” in the history of English
Literature.
- It focused on humanism such as
man’s concern with himself as an
object of observation.
