Promoting the May 4th Spirit and Striving to Be the New Youth of the Times

We hold these truths to be so self-evident, our regular freedom, our land, and our way of
life. We will die for what we believe in. We cannot be stopped. We will never backed down.
Because a life without freedom is not the life worth living. Give us liberty or give us death.
Might lots were born in the war of independence, but I do sincerely think it can highly sum
up every nation`s enlightenment thought, included the May 4 th. For the May 4th movement, it
focused on the core of our nation, our very standing in the world, it reveals the fact that at that
time, our people either live with dignity and honor at the cost of blood, or utterly vanished in the
history.
But what I intend to emphasize, is that the audacity we teenagers have shown. If there`s no
one standing up for it, we are on it. If there`s no one daring to fight, we are on it. If there`s no
one willing to uncover the truth ruthlessly, we are on it. Focus the May 4 th spirit is more than an
idea, stronger than any army, wider than any ocean. It affirmed that the greatness of our nation
it`s not based on the beauty of the palace or the power of military or the size of economy,
instead, it`s the same blood flowing in our veins. Last night it was just a single drop. The single
drop soon becomes a river, a raging tide. Beyond the flood, there is always a world we long to see
when tomorrow comes.
We are the vanguard of knowledge and consciousness, a new wave in a vast ocean of
possibilities, on the other side of that door, there is a world staring for new ideas new leadership.
I would observe that there has never been a period in all these long centuries which we boost
that it is our new teenagers` mission to drag this world out of the chaos caused by all kinds’
unnecessary conflicts. Look up to the stars. Look down to the seas and underground. We do
indeed have a lot to do.
I have myself fully confidence that if we have clear target, if everyone holding on their
duties, we shall prove that we can make this planet stronger than ever before. All of the world
will link together in their causes and in their needs, aiding each other like good comrades, to the
utmost of their strength. Maybe ancestors have gone, maybe those old young bloods have grown
old, or even those legends have faded away, yet I know they are looking down on us with great
pride. Grateful for the diversity of our heritage, aware of our fathers` dreams, I swear that this
drive and virtue will still live on our precious future generations once more.
