A biome is a huge community of plants and animals that share comparable life forms and environmental
conditions. It is the largest geographic biotic unit and is also known as a major life zone. An ecosystem is
a community of living organisms (plants, animals and microbes) in a particular area. A group of living
things called a biome share features with one another that are specific to the environment in which they
live. As a result of the living organism's reaction to the physical climate, they are created. Where as in
the environment, a system or functional unit called an ecosystem is where living and nonliving elements
interact. It is a group of coexisting living things and inanimate objects that make up the environment.
Also just by their root words you can see their differences. The word biome is formed from two Greek
words: bios = life and oma = group or mass. While the ecosystem is also divided into 2 terms, `eco'
refers to a part of the world and `system' refers to the co-ordinating units.
