Application of multiple linear regression analysis in

determining the employee performance

Authors/s:Ayuandiani1, W.; Shaleh1, M.; Magfirah1 , & Kadir, A. R. (2020)

This research aimed to investigate the influence of preventive

discipline and corrective discipline on the employee performance at

Ministry of Religion Office, West Sulawesi in 2019. The conceptual

framework of the study is presented below:

Independent Variable Dependent Variable

Preventive Discipline Preventive Discipline

Corrective Discipline Corrective Discipline

More so, this research answered three hypotheses by using the

data from the questionnaire using manual multiple linear regression

analysis. The use of linear regression analysis is appropriate in this

study because of its aim to predict a continuous dependent variable

from a number of independent variables, preventive and corrective

discipline. In using linear regression in this study, four assumptions

were observed, this includes linearity or the relationship between X1

and X2 and the mean of Y is linear, homoscedasticity or the variance

of residual is the same for any value of X1 and X2, and independence

or the observations that are independent of each other.

Consequently, this journal would add to the soaring body of

knowledge about the role of preventive discipline and corrective

discipline as predictors of employee performance at the Ministry of

Religion Office, West Sulawesi. It is important to examine how

individuals conceptualize and understand the relationship of

preventive discipline and corrective discipline on the employee

performance, as mentioned before, these ideas are often discussed in

relation to one another. Understanding how and to what extent

individuals are internalizing this sort of rhetoric is a key component to

not only developing concepts for managerial investigations of employee

performance, but also for developing a deeper approach to

understanding preventive discipline and corrective discipline.

Moreover, the findings of this journal is an important

contribution to the field of business administration, specifically to the

investigations of employee’s performance in relation to preventive

discipline and corrective discipline implemented in the organization.

As outlined in the previous investigations, there is a significant lack of

research in this particular field. In addition to a general lack of data,

lament the lack of appropriate concepts and measuring tools to tackle

the subject from a research perspective. The findings of this journal

not only contribute to the general pool of data, but suggest that

exploring and understanding how individuals conceptualize the very

practice of developing employee’s performance is a necessary

component of this type of research.
