公元前2000多年的一天，舜继承天子，
他带领部下祭拜天地。从此，人们就
把这一天当作一年的第一天。据说这
就是农历新年的由来，后来叫春节。
One day in more than 2000 BC, Shun inherited the emperor and led his
subordinates to worship heaven and earth. From then on, people regard this day
as the first day of the year. It is said that this is the origin of the Chinese new
year, later called the Spring Festival.

根据传说，佛曾邀请所有动物来他的国土上聚会，但遗憾的
是，只有12个动物来了，老鼠是第一位，接下来是牛、然后是虎，
后来是兔子等等。出于感激，佛决定按动物们到的先后次序命名
年份。在中国每个人都知道自己的属相是最基本的事，而且大多
数的中国人确信属相可以揭示人的性格秘密。
According to one legend, Buddha invited all the animals to his kingdom, but unfortunately,
only a total of 12 turned up, the mouse was naturally the first, followed by the ox, then
tiger, the rabbit and so on. Out of gratitude, Buddha decided to name the year after each
of the animals in their order of arrival.It is essential in China that every person knows
which animal sign he is born under and most of Chinese truly believe that the signs reveal
the hidden secrets of a person's birth is primary factor in determining that person's
characteristics.

中国在古代就有春节除尘的风俗。按民间的说法：新春
除尘用意是要把一切穷运、晦气赶走。每逢春节来临，家
家户户都要打扫环境，清洗各种器具，拆洗被褥窗帘。

In ancient China, there was the custom of dusting during the Spring
Festival. According to the folk saying: the purpose of the new year dust
removal is to drive away all the bad luck. When the Spring Festival
comes, every family should clean the environment, clean all kinds of
appliances, remove and wash the bedding and curtains.

activities, and the custom of vigil has a long history. On New
Year's Eve, the whole family get together for new year's Eve
dinner, light candles or oil lamps, sit around the stove and chat,
and stay up all night.

新年到来之际，家家户户必做的活动就是燃放爆竹
和烟花，以热闹的爆竹声辞旧迎新。放爆竹可以创造
出喜庆热闹的气氛，给人们带来欢愉和吉利。
When the new year comes, every household must do the activity is
to set off firecrackers and fireworks, with the lively sound of
firecrackers to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new.
Setting off firecrackers can create a festive and lively atmosphere
and bring happiness and auspiciousness to people.

 1.元日：农历正月初一，即春节。 The first day of the
first month of the lunar calendar, namely the Spring Festival.
