OVERVIEW: Students will individually research Centennial College’s student supports and services then
prepare a PowerPoint presentation using PowerPoint 365. Working in-group, students will combine their individual
slides into ONE PowerPoint presentation file using Office 365 that they will present to the instructor.
Assign Topics to Individual Student: Student will be assigned specific research topic by your professor. Assigned PPT
Project Topic Lists are available in this Assignment Folder.
STEP 1: Engage in Research:
Once each student has an assigned topic (Centennial College support or service), they will gather information about
this area of the College using both primary and secondary research methods.
Data collection format is available in this Assignment Folder.
i. Primary research may include an interview with someone who works in this area, online sending email or on
the phone; a personal experience of using this service; or a discussion with others who have used the service.
ii. Secondary research may include using the Internet to read about the service; gathering pamphlets the
service online sources; gather news articles.
Conduct Research on your topic must be on following FOUR distinct objectives; you will design your
PowerPoint Presentation:
1. Describe fully the offerings of the service/support area,
2. Describe the process students need to follow to access this service,
3. Explain how this service/support aids/ benefits in student success, and
4. Provide ONE recommendation (your own) for improvement of the service (topic).
STEP 2: Prepare your Individual Data Collection Report & Submit
Submit your (Individual) Primary & Secondary Research Data Collection Report to the designated dropbox prior
to go to Step 3. Submit the report in PDF format.
STEP 3: Now Create Your Individual PowerPoint Slides
a. Creates 6-7 PowerPoint slides (maximum) highlighting their research findings.
b. MUST have a cover page slide (INTRO), contains course information + Scree Capture of your H-Drive showing your
individual PPT project file. Sample provided in e.centennial.
c. Include footer with their first and last name.
d. Relevant Citations are used throughout on the slides in APA format. In-text citations are used where applicable
e. Final slide will contain references of work in APA format. There MUST be evidence of conducting research of both
Primary & Secondary sources. In-text citations are used where applicable
f. Insert screen capture of your DATA collection report on the reference page.
g. MUST use the Speaker Notes on every slide detailed explanation of the content on the slides with specific reference.
h. At least ONE hyperlink evident, ensure hyperlink does not display URL but rather is text with a link.
i. Apply following Microsoft PPT applications to the presentation slides:
✓ Apply a newly released presentation theme - https://templates.office.com/en-ca/themes
✓ Apply slide layout: 1. Heading, 2. Subheading/Subtitle & 3. Description
✓ Insert background image relevant to the assigned topic. Apply 30-40% transparency on the 1st slide (INTRO) and
rest all slides 70-80%
✓ Add least two image that supports slide’s content. Apply 3D effect & framing on the images.
✓ Apply variety of transitions and animation to all slides
✓ Apply SmartArt at least on one slide.
✓ Apply WordArt on all Slides Heading and Subtitle
✓ Include Graphics, data, or chart.
✓ Insert Video clip relevant to the assigned topic (not URL)
✓ Voice Record: Student’s own Voice Recording on individual 1st slide (cover slide).

STEP 4: Save your PPT Presentation Slides and Rename
➢ Save your individual PPT file to your H-Drive and rename the file as ‘Your Topic_Your Name.”
➢ Insert a screenshot to show your individual PPT file on your drive, using Snipping Tools.
➢ Paste the screen capture on your 1st slide (Intro Slide), below name & topic, etc. & Use voice recording on it.
➢ Send your final individual PowerPoint Slides to the Team Leader
STEP 5: Combination of Individual PPT Slides to ONE file
Combine individual PowerPoint presentations into one PowerPoint presentation or format your slides to be presented as a
unified presentation. Edit their individual PPT Slides to conform to good practices, proofread, check, improve, and modify
required areas during group setting.
1. Combine their individual PowerPoint presentations into ONE PowerPoint presentation File.
2. Add one INTRODUCTION Slide in the beginning; MUST indicate the name of the Group Leader along with another
member’s name and one SUMMARY Slide at the end.
3. Sample PowerPoint Group project is available in the folder for your review. Do not copy.
4. Voice Recording: Please include all group members own Voice Recording available on group Introduction slide
and conclusion slide before submission.
5. Finally, save the combined group presentation as “PPT Project_Group Leader Name”.
6. Groups can fix all above tasks participating in a group Meeting.
STEP 6: Group Submission of Group PowerPoint Presentation
Group leader: Please submit the combined group PowerPoint Presentation file before due date to the designated
dropbox by the Group Leader ONLY.
STEP 7: Group Presentation In-Class
✓ Week 13: Group 1-5 and Group Week 14: 6-10 Please follow the ROADMAP
✓ Students present their Slides to the class.
✓ Group Presentation Delivery in order according to Group number.
✓ Recommended to use Cue Card for presentation.
✓ Time: 12 -15 minutes maximum. (Group)
✓ MUST use visuals as evidence of the conducted primary research of the assigned topic.
✓ Recommend following THREE phases:
1. Introduction: Group, names, and topics assigned.
Every group member’s own Voice Recording on the group INTRO & RECAP slide of the presentation.
2. Body of Presentation: Topic of all members in brief.
3. Conclusion: Recapitulation, Summery - outcomes of this group work.
