solution of the question involved in the disputed document.

Handwriting identification is also called verification, since this relates the same
objective, to tackle the problem within the capability and knowledge in the field
of science and, the application of the scientific equipments in the solution of the
crime committed through document.

Definition

Handwriting examination is the act of making a close and critical study of any
materials with both standards and questioned document necessary to discover
the facts about them

Recognition of Handwriting Characteristics

 Recognition/ analysis of all characteristics- the recognition of characteristics

are observed in order to measure and determine the handwriting
characteristics as basis to establish the veracity, origin and the authenticity
of the document
 Complete comparison of all characteristics- the collation and comparison of
characteristics of a questioned or unknown document, can be determined
through analysis and comparison with the familiar or known standard
documents. Comparison is the act of setting two or more items side by side
to weigh their identifying qualities. Collation is the critical comparison or
side by side examination.
 Interpretation and Evaluation of all characteristics- the evaluation on
similarities or dissimilarities of idiosyncrasies or individual characteristics
that have for identification to determine, its likelihood and significant
similarities, should be scrutinize carefully.
Analysis of Handwriting Characteristics

This is the process of identifying or determining the characteristics of

the standards and the questioned specimens which, the reasoning are
based on the similarities and significant dissimilarities. The correct
analysis of the specimens, play an important role in solution of the
question involved in the documents.

The error committed in the identification of the issue involved in the

disputed document, lies on the failure to take cognizance on the real
differences and real similarities and their fundamental, to understand
and properly interpret them religiously, when they are still in the
phases of examination.

Analysis probably, should inure to the critical classification, observation

and actual or logical reasoning leading to the valid recognition of
significant similarities and significant dissimilarities.

Method of Comparison in Handwriting Characteristics

Movement of individual writing, coupled with skills employed in the

execution of the signature, can be determined from a careful analysis of
the signature in question. The following factors can provide a full
description of the individual writing movement in the comparison of
the signature, which have similar basis in comparison of handwriting
characteristics. Description of the Individual Writing Movement

1. Continuous writing movement on the standard and questioned are

compared whether the writing movement is uninterrupted at any
interval either by pen stops or actual pen lifts.
2. Comparison on the rhythmic movement which is the primary
determinant of the writing speed in a pattern of writing movement.

3. Comparison of the shading and pen emphasis on

particular strokes, whether it is in normal and in usual
places.
4.The overall writing pressures are compared, whether it is
consistent with the questioned and standard.
5. Comparison of speed of the executions whether they are
consistent in the standard and the questioned.
6. Smooth or angular connecting strokes between letters
are compared to determine whether they are normal.
7. Starting from the initial writing movement, before or
after the pen contacts the paper and the corresponding
condition at the termination of word, are compared
whether natural or not.
The element of signature in writing, the owner of the
signature produces a particular pattern which contains personal habit
of his signature which does not occur in other instances through
comparison, this personal habit reveals its idiosyncrasies. Element
refers to the separate physical parts of things and it is also an
appropriate descriptive term preferably connected to non-identity or
similarities.
