UNIKOP Industrial Training Handbook Version 1 (April 2021)
1.0 BACKGROUND
Industrial Training is a compulsory course for all relevant programmes with internship
requirements for completing the programme in UNIKOP. This industrial training aims to
develop good character such as complying with the company’s terms and conditions, teamwork,
punctuality, good attitudes and willingness to learn. The training gives students hands on
experience of the natural working environment and application of classroom theories.
The final year students from industrial training embedded programmes will be placed as interns
in industrial settings. The students will be required to look for any organization in the relevant
field willing to take them as an intern during the practicum. The students will be required to
perform the internship to learn real-life situations, especially in making decisions and problem-
solving. The working and learning experience will be reflected in a portfolio to be prepared
during the training. This is a self and independent learning term with no classroom learning or
constant supervision from lecturers; rather, supervision and guidance will be provided by the
supervisors at the workplace.
A logbook, workplace report, field supervisors’ evaluation form, and oral presentation slides
should be submitted to the respective academic supervisors. The internship committee will
schedule an oral presentation session with the panel of lecturers to evaluate and discuss their
experience and new knowledge acquired or obtained during the internship. Appropriate marks
will be awarded for the assessment components according to the evidence shown in the logbook
and report prepared; supervisors report, oral presentation slides and the outcome of oral
presentation.
