ASME Sec. V Article 6 2. API 1104 3. ASME Sec VIII, Div.-1, App 8 4. IOCL Spec. METHOD 1, Materials: Penetrant, Cleaner, & Developer shalll be used from the same manufacturer. Expiry date of Penetrant, Cleaner, & Developer shall be checked before use. 2. Surface Preparation: The surface to be tested and adjacent areas of at least 25 mm shall be cleaned with wire brush to remove rust, weld spatters, slag, paint etc. Temperature of the surface to be tested shall be 13 to 50°C. 3. After wire Brush cleaning, surface shall be cleaned with “CLEANER” by spray brushing gently with cotton cloth. Sufficient time shall be provided to ensure 100% evaporation of the cleaner before applying Penetrant. 4. °PENETRANT” shall be applied by spraying. The minimum Penetration time before applying developer (Dwell time) shall be as per manufacturer instruction and not less than 10 minutes. 5. After the dwell time, the excess Penetrant shall be removed from surface by Wiping off the clean cotton cloth and “CLEANER”. Cleaner shall not directly sprayed on the surface. 6. Immediately after cleaning “DEVELOPER” shall be sprayed on test area to obtain a thin coat. Before applying the developer it shall be thoroughly agitated to ensure adequate dispersion of suspected particlest d eyeloperr) Evaluation shall be done after 5 to 10 minutes after applying of developer and not later than 30 minutes after developer applied. 8. Chemical used for above shall not contain more than 25 ppm each of Harmful halogen & Sulphur. Final Cleaning: All the materials on the surface shall be removed by wiping with clean cloth or by spraying cleaner on the surface. DOCUMENT NO. REV.
