Story Of The Mouse Deer and The Arrogant Horse

One day, Mouse Deer went for a walk through the edge of the forest. Last night it rained very hard,
there were lots of puddles that were not visible. So, the mouse deer had to walk by jumping up and
down to avoid the puddles.

Suddenly, a horse appeared. The horse’s body is very big, strong and dashing. He ran towards Kancil.
When he arrived in front of the mouse deer, his feet hit the mud puddle. So, he splashed Kancil.

“Hey Horse! Slow down your path.’’ Reprimand Kancil.

“Haha, you’re the one who’s wrong for not being agile, it’s not my fault if you get splashed by that!”
ridiculed the Horse. Instead of apologizing, the Horse mocked him.

‘’Don’t be arrogant you Horse! That’s not good, you should apologize instead of blaming me.” Said
Kancil advising.

“Hey Mouse Deer, I’m not arrogant at all. I’m just telling the truth. You must be very jealous of me?
Am I stronger, my body is bigger and can run fast?” Mock the Horse.

Hearing this, Kancil felt very insulted. He restrained his anger and immediately looked for ways to
deter him. Finally, he had an idea.

“Is that the Horse? In that case, how about we have a run? We’ll prove who can run fast.’’ Said Deer
challengingly.

“It’s obvious that I will win! But fine, I’ll appreciate you and accept your challenge!’’ ridiculed the
Horse with a laugh.
Finally, they agreed to hold a running match the next day. The news was heard by the whole forest,
Mouse Deer was practicing with enthusiasm.

The appointed day arrived, the animals gathered. They were all very sure that the Horse would win
the match. However, the Mouse Deer was not at all discouraged.

As soon as the match starts, at first the Horses are in the lead. However, upon entering the forest,
the Horse started to struggle because of the very tall trees, the roots that ran across, the puddles
everywhere and the bushes that covered the road.

Unlike the mouse deer, he moves nimbly without a hitch. Because of his practice, he memorized the
roads in the forest.

Finally, it was Kancil who reached the finish line first. All the forest residents did not expect it and
cheered happily.

Meanwhile, the Horse reached the finish line by holding back his embarrassment. Since then, the
Horse was rarely seen in the forest and no longer boasted about himself.

The moral message of The Story of The Mouse Deer and The Arrogant Horse is that everyone has
their own strengths and weaknesses. Arrogance will only make people hate us and there is no
benefit at all.
