Globalization
The significant success that Apple has had in the market over the years has been partly
attributed to globalization. It has used the phenomenon to carve a competitive edge
over its rivals. China, where more than half of Apple’s products are manufactured,
boasts of low cost and a disciplined labor force. The company has managed to exploit
this situation to maximize its profits. In addition, Apple has taken most of its
manufacturing operations overseas to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Southeast
Asia and China play host to many of Apple’s sub assemblies and upstream components.
This implies that carrying out the final assembly in the United States presents a myriad
of logistical challenges to the organization. As compared to the US, China has more agile
and much larger factories.
POLITICAL GLOBALIZATION
One of the key aspects of political globalization is the decline of the nation-state
and the rise of other actors on the political scene. One of the classic examples of
political globalization is the creation and existence of the United Nations. Political
globalization is one of the three main dimensions of globalization commonly found in
academic literature, with the other two being economic globalization and cultural
globalization. An important set of political issues pertaining to the principle of state
sovereignty, the growing impact of intergovernmental organizations, and the future
prospects for regional and global governance
While it has enabled some significant advancements in human rights and growing
prosperity thanks to free trade, many people have also been displaced and harmed by
multinational agreements, also. There will always be a pull-and-push as political
globalization displaces and upsets people and causes backlash. There are valid and
genuine arguments on both sides of the benefits and drawbacks of political
globalization.
