TEACHING GUIDE

(Group 1)
INTRODUCTION/MOTIVATION  Morning Routine (Cleaning the classroom and checking of the attendance)

 Greetings

Activity Title: ARRANGE ME! (10-15 minutes)

The teacher will show some pictures together with the jumbled letters and the students will rearrange the jumbled letters in order to form
the correct word that is based on the given picture. The teacher will give some guide questions that would help the students understand the
three disciplines in Social Science:

Q1: Do you know who the president of our country is?


Q2: Which part of Mindanao that our president came from?
Q3: Can you name some festivals in the Philippines? How about in Davao?
Q4: What do you call the people living in Davao?

The teacher will manage the students’ answers.


INSTRUCTION  The teacher will group the students into three.
 Each group will be provided with the different topics namely: Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science.
 The teacher will ask the students to research and gather information about the given topic for 30 minutes in preparation for the
presentation.
 Rubrics for the presentation will be given.
 Each group will identify the following task (1-Secretary, 2-Facilitator, 1-2 Representative/s, and the rest of them will be the Critics)

Here are the following guide questions:


Question 1: What is Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science?
Question 2: What is the significance of studying Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science?
Question 3: What is the impact of each disciplines to your life as a student?

 After 30 minutes, the teacher will randomly choose who will be the first one to present and so on.
 The teacher will assign different groups to critique each presenters.
 The assigned critics will now give their observations, comments, and recommendations regarding their presentations.
 The sharing of ideas will be facilitated and guided by the teacher.
 The teacher will ask the students questions and clarifications about the topic being discussed. Then, the teacher will give his/her
personal view or definition as well as the views of some experts.

 The students will identify whether the given article is a Sociological, Anthropological, or a Political issue or a combination of the three
disciplines.

ENRICHMENT  If you are going to be a Sociologist, Anthropologist, or a Political scientist in the future, how are you going to address the different
issues on our culture, society, and politics?
 As a Filipino citizen, how are we going to contribute for the betterment of our country?

EVALUATION  The students will express his/her learnings through the use of Venn diagram.
 They will be given 15 minutes to accomplish the task.
 After the given time, the students will submit all their outputs to the teacher for the checking.

Instructions: Let the students list down some issues according to the three disciplines. For an example that can be suited under the two
disciplines, write them on spaces W, X, or Y. For the examples that can be studied under all the three disciplines, write them on the space Z.

Processing: After all issues have been classified, ask students what they have observed.

Conclusion/Closure: Therefore, it is important to study the three disciplines in order to determine the differences, similarities of the three as
well as the value and purpose of life.
