Natya Chetana by Subodh Patnaik focuses on the theory and practice of Indian theatre.

Here he covers various aspects of

theatre such as history, types of Indian theatre, acting, stagecraft, and playwriting. It also explores the relationship between
theatre and society, and how theatre can be used as a medium for social change. He divides the concept into seven chapters,
each covering a different aspect of theatre. The first chapter provides an overview of Indian theatre and its history. The
second chapter discusses the different types of Indian theatre, including Sanskrit theatre, folk theatre, and modern theatre.
The third chapter explores the art of acting and the various techniques that actors can use to enhance their performances. The
fourth chapter focuses on stagecraft, including set design, lighting, and sound. The fifth chapter covers playwriting and the
different approaches that writers can take when creating a play. The sixth chapter examines the relationship between theatre
and society, including how theatre can be used to address social issues. Finally, the seventh chapter provides a glimpse into
the future of Indian theatre. Natya Chetana has developed 2 modules of theatre process and form. 1) Cyco theatre and 2)
Intimate Theatre. One is to carry theatre by cycle crossing hundreds of kilometres to reach common audiences of villages
who are out of educational premises and performing in open air spaces facing 3 side audiences after undertaking a serious
research on subject and cultural expression of the region. The second model is to do longer plays, 1 hr. 15 min to 2 hours
maximum, performing once in the evenings with a series of shows for urban population in towns using auditoriums, non-
auditorium unusual spaces addressing One-sided audiences. The objective is to draw attention of the audiences towards the
issues dealt in the content, but places before them through a familiar entertaining method. Cyco Theatre is a ground breaking
project created by Subodh Patnaik, a Delhi-based artist and designer. This innovative project combines elements of
performance art, design, and technology to create a truly immersive and interactive experience for audiences. The project
was born out of Patnaik's fascination with the relationship between humans and technology, and his desire to explore the
possibilities of using technology to create sustainable, interactive art. His previous work in the field of interactive art
provided the foundation for Cyco Theatre, which represents the culmination of his artistic vision. The name "Cyco Theatre"
comes from the words "cyber" and "ecology," reflecting Patnaik's interest in exploring the intersection between technology
and sustainability. The project is designed to be modular and customizable, allowing it to be adapted to a variety of
performance and installation contexts. At its core, Cyco Theatre is a system of interconnected modules that can be arranged
in different configurations to create a unique environment for each performance. Each module is equipped with a variety of
sensors and actuators that allow it to respond to the movements and actions of the performers and audience members.
The sensors can detect everything from motion and sound to temperature and humidity, and the actuators can be
programmed to produce a variety of responses, such as changing the color of the lighting or moving a physical element of
the installation. The result is a dynamic and responsive environment that is constantly changing in real-time in response to
the actions of the performers and audience members. This creates a fully immersive experience that is unlike anything else in
traditional theater or performance art. One of the key features of Cyco Theatre is its focus on sustainability and
environmental responsibility. The modules are constructed using recycled and reclaimed materials, and the system is
powered by a combination of solar panels and wind turbines. This allows the project to minimize its impact on the
environment while still providing a truly innovative and engaging experience for audiences. The project has been used in a
variety of contexts, from large-scale theatrical productions to more intimate installations. In each case, the system is
customized to fit the specific needs of the performance or installation, creating a truly unique experience for each audience.
One example of the project's versatility is its use in the theatrical production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The system
was used to create an immersive forest environment that responded to the actions of the actors and audience members. The
system was programmed to change the lighting and sound based on the movements of the performers, creating a fully
immersive experience that transported the audience into the world of the play. In another example, the project was used in an
installation at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, an international exhibition of contemporary art. The installation, titled "Cyco
Island," was a modular system that allowed visitors to explore a virtual island environment. The modules were arranged in a
circular configuration, with each module representing a different aspect of the island environment, such as the beach, the
jungle, or the sea. Visitors were invited to explore the installation by moving through the different modules, triggering
different responses from the system as they moved. The system responded to the visitors' movements by changing the
lighting and sound, creating a fully immersive experience that transported the visitors into the world of the installation.
Overall, Cyco Theatre represents a major innovation in the field of interactive art and design. Its focus on sustainability and
environmental responsibility sets it apart from other projects in the field, while its modular design and adaptability make it a
versatile and powerful tool for artists and designers. The project has received widespread recognition for its innovation and
creativity, including a grant from the India Foundation for the Arts and an award from the UNESCO Digital Arts Award. As
the field of interactive art and design continues to evolve, Cyco Theatre represents a bold and exciting new direction for the
future of the discipline.
