Testing supplementary equipotential cennec- tions (group 1 medical locations) ‘The teot io performed by maliing aure thet the connections of the protection and equipotential conductors of the equipotential bonding bus bar are made correctly and that they are intact. Purpose of the test: to check the electrical conti- nuity of the conductors, in other words that there areno false contacts (without measuring their re- sistance), Instrument: ohmmeter with a no-load votage be- tween 4 and 24 V in AC or DC and that supplies a current of at least 0.2, Procedure: the terminals of the instrument are connected on one ing bus bar and on the other to the conductive part or extraneous conductive part, thena check is made to ensure that the current supplied from the instrument does not drop below 0.24 ide to the equipotential bond Measurement for the identification of extrane- ‘ous conductive parts Purpose of the teat: te asses whether a met part is an extraneous conductive part by measur- ing resistance to earth. Its considered to be an extraneous conductive part if the resistance value measured is less than 0.5 MA in group 2 medical locations and less than 200 Qin the ‘group 1 medical locations. Instrument: ohmmeter or appropriate tool ‘equipped witha plug socket to be inserted ina socket of the system and with a sensor to be placed in contact with the possible extraneous ‘conductive part. Procedure: the measurement is taken by connect- f thei ing one of the pi rument te the equt potential bonding bus bar and the other on the metallic structure in question (fig. 4.8) arcing usar By coe Visual inspection ‘The visual inspection must address the following aspects in particular: + coordination of protection devices in TN and TT systems; + calibration of the protection devices; + characteristics of SELV and PELV systems; + fire safety devices; + circuit configurations for supplying power to plug sockets in group 2 medical locations: + identification of the plug sockets supplied by safety sources: + performance of the sources and devices for ‘safety power supply and lighting.
