Professional Identity and Educational Philosophy Statement

Being an Elementary Education teacher is more than just teaching kids the standards in a
classroom at a young age. It is also about growing these children into adults and teaching them
morals. Teaching is also building trust and relationships with the students you have in a
classroom. I value connections in a classroom. To have a connection in a classroom, you need to
earn the respect of your students and also trust. I will also build that relationship by knowing
these students and their backgrounds. I will also make trauma-informed teaching strategies
based on knowing the children's backgrounds. Understanding your students is key to building
respect and trust. I will build a strong classroom community and acknowledge the differences in
the classroom. My classroom with be accessible to any child based on race gender and abilities.
I believe that my students can make mistakes as well. We will grow from our mistakes and
learn from them emotionally and socially. I will also teach my students how to respect and
engage to learn together, to the best of my ability. I will help my students reach their full
potential and help them thrive, not only in school work but outside of the classroom.

As a teacher, it is also my job to form relationships with the staff and parents of the
students. It is also my job to inform them about certain curricular foundations and any other
issues that may happen. I will help these students strive in the classroom and inform the parents
and staff. I also believe that patience is key in a classroom. These kids may be going through
something that day, or week. I find it very important to be open-minded when students are having
a hard time. Being patient in a classroom will help me and my students. I also believe in the
reflection in the classroom. I will take time out of the day, in class, to focus on the child's
reflection on the day or week. You want the student to understand and know what they are doing
best and how they will succeed. I believe that each student should have a positive view of
themselves inside the classroom and outside. I believe each student should also have goals set
for themselves and they will succeed.

As a teacher, I also believe I am responsible for giving these children stability. I will form
these connections with my students and build that trust and respect in them. I plan to build a
strong classroom within the connections I might have with these students. I will engage my
students in many different activities that will help them create a wider range of learning and
knowledge. I will be allowing my students to do any activities that are accessible to them. I
believe that students will learn differently and may have different backgrounds that can affect
their learning. I will look at the progress of the student's self-examination and self-
transformation throughout the year to see what works best in the classroom. I will create a
classroom with different teaching strategies for the student's success. By being knowledgeable in
being accessible, I will be able to create a strong classroom environment for my students.

I am a believer in independent students and readers. The students need to rely on me but
also be independent. It is my job and responsibility to build an independent student. I also
believe that it is my job to create different work styles in the classroom and put real-life examples
and experiences with activities. Butler University has helped my future educator identity and
learning experience tremendously. Butler focuses on their COE visions and mission statement. I
believe that I will take those mission statements throughout my classroom and future. It has
affected my learning in many good ways through reading, writing, and field experiences. I will
continue to bring my experiences at Butler to my classroom. I will create a strong classroom
environment that will have many connections with respect and trust. I will also bring patience
and teach my students how to be patient with me as well. I will teach them that mistakes help you
grow. I will teach my students and their full potential to the best of my ability. I will teach with
accessible learning practices and activities that are accessible to everyone in the classroom. I
will create a classroom that is equal and accessible to everyone and equity throughout the
classroom based on diversity and the different needs and resources each student needs.I believe
that my students can make mistakes as well. We will grow from our mistakes and learn from
them emotionally and socially. I will also teach my students how to respect and engage to learn
together, to the best of my ability. I will help my students reach their full potential and help
them thrive, not only in school work but outside of the classroom.
