As an educator, I strongly believe every student has the potential to learn.

When they are

given the tools that they need to succeed, they will excel in their learning. When working with
students, they should not be required to be ready for school, but the school should be ready for
them. This supports my belief in every student’s potential because good teaching is done by
those who can reach each of their students on a personal level. In my role as a teacher, I view
myself as a facilitator who observes and then serves the students in my classroom. I tend to take
this approach to more fully understand the situations that arise and jump into the situation as a
leader of the room.
I encourage my students to nurture their learning styles and strive to support each
learning style by having different projects and activities throughout the course to focus on the
strengths of each student. One of my teaching goals is for each of my students to feel seen and
heard. No matter their age, every student has a unique story to tell and we may be the only ones
in their lives to hear their story. This is invaluable to them because it gives them the strength and
confidence to succeed when they are valued first as humans and then as students. I want to be a
resource to all students that I interact with. I can do this by adjusting my teaching style to their
abilities to help the class run smoothly so each student can have a valuable educational
experience.
I am committed to my students and believe that it is imperative to collaborate with fellow
teachers so that we can best help our students. Collaboration is important so we can learn from
others and get ideas that are conducive to other learning styles that we may not have considered.
I will also show respect for the input of my fellow teachers by appreciating their ideas and
contributions. All of this can build the relationship between my fellow teachers and me which
can in turn help me learn how to better build the relationship with my students. By doing this, I
can better learn about my students and their communities. Everyone has great input and their
opinions should be respected and encouraged.
All of these commitments will help me build a cohesive community of learners in my
classroom which will help me uphold my ethical responsibilities that have been set forth by the
National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC). I
can reach my potential as an educator by making these specific dispositions a priority.
