Capstone Rough Draft 2023

The Adventures of Dental Hygiene

Throughout high school, I have always tried to figure out what I wanted to do outside of

high school. However, I have changed my mind about what career I want to do once I am out.

Nevertheless, I have always wanted to be successful in everything I do. In addition, I always

want to help people and be happy while I help. The only issue is that when I think I know what I

want to do, I overthink and wonder if I would be good at it. Nevertheless, I know what I want to

do in the future ever since I have talked to many different people and discussed the pros and

cons.

My name is Allyson Beasley. I am a 17-year-old senior at Lee High School. I was born

in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on April 5th, 2005. I love to travel all around the world. I love being

with all my friends and family, but at the same time, I love to be alone in my room watching

movies. Some obstacles I still have to overcome are perfectionism, self-doubt, and fear of failing.

I am always beyond scared of any of these during classes mostly. I have three older siblings:

Chris, Alex, and Mikey. They all love to annoy me while I do schoolwork or play games on my

XBOX, but I choose to be close to them. Among all my siblings, I am the only one attending

college next year and will be the first to graduate. My parents, Glenn and Angela, support my

goals and how I plan to live my life.

My future goals have been stuck with me all through my senior year because I have seen

many people have diseases in their mouths. The outcome can be different for each patient, but

many of them require them to get teeth implants, which is a long, painful process. "Demand for

dental services is expected to increase as the large baby-boom population ages and as people

keep more of their original teeth than in previous generations" ("Dental Hygienists"). I want to

help people and ensure they no longer have to deal with the pain. When I graduate high school, I

plan to study dental at Ferris State University in August. My next goal would be to get a job as a

dentist and go back to college simultaneously. After that, I would return to college for my

master's degree in business. I want to get my master's in business so I can open my own dental

office and help people who do not have good insurance.

I will head to Ferris State University this August to reach my goals. I plan to enter the

Biomedical program and volunteer at Robinson Dental to support my future career. When my

dream of becoming a dentist is complete, I will help as many people as possible by "Being part

of and contributing to our community" ("Robinson Dental"). I want to stay around the Grandville

area, and I will make sure that I am financing correctly with the help of my parents. One thing I

do strive for is for my family to enjoy their lives since they have always been there for me. I

know that life can be crazy sometimes and throw everything at you all at once, but I am willing

to be more open-minded and change my plans.

These last 13 years of my life have been great, but there will always be better years, and I

know those are coming. I learned from some people what it was like to have an amazing

friendship. I learned from my family who would be and would not be there. I loved all my

science classes so much that they helped me decide to become a dentist. The teachers like Jody,

Foote, and McKanna have been in my life for a while and have taken time out of their day when

they could be helping other students to help me out. That made me so much stronger and made

me feel like I made them proud. Finally, I wish I could repay my parents for all the times they

supported me and helped me through everything. I plan on going to Ferris State University to

finish college for them to make them proud. I know that life is not easy, but I will take it one step

at a time and focus on myself.
