Review on the movie „Puss in boots: The last wish“

Puss in boots: The last wish is a 2022 movie produced by DreamWorks Animation with a
lead director Joel Crawford as a sequal to the movie „Puss in boots“ (2011) and the Shrek
franchise. The main characters was first introduced in the movie Shrek 2004 and now it
follow our hero, Puss, played/voiced by Antonio Banderas in an attempt to save his last of
the nine lives. Throughout his adventures we are met and reintroduced with many familiar
names and faces like Kitty soft paws (Selma Hayek), Goldlocks (Florence Pugh), Big bad
Wolf (Wagner Moura). As Death has caught up with puss he is on the mission to find the
mistirious star that grants him the Last Wish in hopes of getting his life back. But it's not that
easy as he is not the only one in the search of the mythical star.

The comedic and advanturist movie „The Last Wish“ offers something different and
unexpected as the Puss has grown up with his audience and is forced to face death right in
the eyes. His eight lives have been spent carelessly and without thinking about the
conciquences. As Puss does not want to face the fact that he should retire from his
advanturistic life a shadow creeps upon him, death himslef, the Big Bad Wolf demanding him
to turn himself right in because he did not value his lives enough. „ Because Puss in Boots
laughs in the face of death, right? But you're not laughing now.“ Is the sentance that
makes us stop, wonder and look back and rethink Pusses actions and life decisions it
is also the turning moment in the movie and Pusses life as he comes to the realisation
that the End might be near. Puss overhears about a mystirious star that grants you a
final wish and in that desperation he opposes everything and steps out on his jurney.
He is shortly acompanied by his ex girlfriend miss Soft paws and a new dog friend
named Perito. The trio is up against the family of Goldlocks bears and Jack Horner as
they come closer to the desired destination. Everything is settled in the deciding battle
between the Puss and the Wolf.

The movie talks about valuing ones own life in coorilations with others around you,
relationships and friendship. It shows how the bravest heroes can fall into a pit of
despair and how we should not be scared to ask for help from someone else and not
be scared to let more people inside our lives. One of the conclusion this movie can
give us is that the second life starts when you understand that you only have one. The
seemingly childish and comedy movie has a deeper meaning and thats where I
believe that this movie should be a good fit for every age group. The movie speaks for
itself as it was nominated for BAFTA Film Award and Oscars with more than
$12,000,000 made on the opening weekend in US & Canada,

The movies duration is one hour and 42 minutes
