NOTICE
Satisfactory air conditioning depends greatly on the quality of installation. Please ensure that your air conditioning unit is installed by a
qualified or knowledgeable air conditioning technician.

Your PEAKE equipment is covered by a LIMITED WARRANTY against defects in workmanship for a 1-year period.

Please read your Limited Warranty Certificate carefully.

2
INSTALLATION

Before installing your air conditioner, please read this installation manual carefully and keep it
for future reference.

This product must be installed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Receive and Inspect Unit CAUTION

ALL PANELS MUST BE IN PLACE WHEN
RIGGING.
Inspect unit for concealed shipping damage. If shipping is
damaged or incomplete, file claim with transportation com-
pany and advise Peake immediately.
Placing the unit
Placement area of unit must be level (see unit leveling
2. Protect Unit from Damage tolerance) and strong enough to support the units operat-
ing weight.
To maintain warranty, protect unit against adverse weather
conditions, theft or vandalism on the jobsite.

3. Provide Unit Support

Refer to Physical Data for unit weight.

If desired, construct a stand or frame of I-beams or angle
iron that adequately supports the unit. The floor and floor
joists of existing buildings may require reinforcement; fol-
low applicable codes.

Rigging
These units are designed with skids which allow for either
overhead of forked rigging. For overhead rigging, use lift-
ing holes provided. All cables should run to a central sus-
pension point so that the angle from the horizontal is not A- B B- C A- C

NON-FLAMMABLE
Install all ductwork to and from unit in accordance with all COLLAR
applicable codes. Refer to the figure at right for suggested
method of connecting supply air duct work.

Duct construction must allow the unit to operate within duct

external static pressure limits as shown on job submitals.

Units designed to operate with ductwork may be damaged

if operated without intended ductwork attached.

AIR DISCHARGE CONVERSION

Units are shipped for upflow operation, but may be con-

verted for any of the discharged patterns illustrated at right.
Convert as follows:

1. Remove the panels from the blower section.

2. Remove screws located inside casing corner angles

which hold coil and blower sections together.

3. Rotate blower section for the air discharge pattern

bulb from environment using cork tape.
If necessary to align pulleys, the housing of the twin groove
motor pulley may extend 25% of its length beyond end of
motor shaft.
BLOWER ADJUSTMENT
Always align twin groove pulleys using the stationary web.
Adjust evaporator fan speed to meet job site conditions. The
RPM of the supply air blower will depend on the required
CFM, the unit accessories and the static resistances of both
the supply and the return air duct systems. With this informa
tion, the RPM for the supply air blower can be determined
from the Fan Performance Data shown on pages 7 and 8.

To change fan speeds:

STRAIGHT EDGE MUST BE
1. Shut off unit power supply. PARALLEL WITH BELT
2. Loosen belt by loosening fan motor mounting nuts.
MOVABLE FLANGE
3. Loosen movable pulley flange setscrew (see diagram)
4. Screw movable flange toward fixed flange to increase speed
or away from fixed flange to decrease speed. Increasing MOTORS AND FAN SHAFTS
PULLEYS MUST BE PARALLEL
fan speed increases load on motor. Do not exceed maxi-
mum speed specified in Table 1. SET SCREWS
5. Set movable flange at nearest keyway of pulley hub and
tighten setscrew.
FIXED FLANGE

SINGLE GROOVE
To align fan and motor pulleys:
1. Loosen fan pulley setscrews.
2. Slide fan pulley along fan shaft.
3. Make angular alignment by loosening motor from mount-
ing plate.

To adjust belt tension:

1. Loosen fan motor mounting nuts.
2. Slide motor mounting plate away from fan scroll for
proper belt tension (1/2-in. deflection with one finger)
and tighten mounting nuts EVAPORATOR FAN PULLEY
3. Adjust bolt and nut on mounting plate to secure motor ADJUSTMENT

After the supply air blower is operating, adjust the resistances

in both the supply and the return duct systems to balance the
air distribution throughout the conditioned space. The job
specifications may require that this balancing be done by
someone other than the equipment installer.

PREPARATION FOR START-UP

POWER ON
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Check system performance parameters (pressures, current,
voltage, etc.) to ensure system is functioning satisfactorily.
NOTE: ALL ELECTRICAL WORK SHOULD BE
CARRIED OUT BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL Ensure that condensing unit cycles “off” and “on”, as
AND CONFORM TO LOCAL CODES AND required. (It should take approximately three (3) minutes
STANDARDS. during the cycle-off period to allow system pressures to
equalize.)

1. Before installing the air conditioning unit, ensure the Ensure that the air-conditioned (room) space is “cooling”
electrical supply is adequate for the operating voltage and to the satisfaction of the customer.

and electrical schematic diagram.
After completing unit installation, proper care must be given
2. The installation of a bipolar switch with a delayed type to initial start-up and operation to avoid condensation

3. It is imperative that the unit be earthed before use. If no
earth connection is available on the main supply, connect to
earth with copper wire. The manufacturer accepts no liability
if this safety requirement is not observed. MAINTENANCE

tional lubrication.
Be sure drain line is clear and is properly and securely
positioned. Pour water into drain to check operation. Belts
