METHOD STATEMENT OF JACKING UP EXISTING GUARDRAIL

STEP 1: Marking the run


Work area for Guardrail requirement will be marked before installation work start. Based on the extent of Guardrail given
or directed by engineer. Contractor will measure new point of post from existing point moved around 600mm to new point.

The Contractor shall be responsible for verifying underground facilities such as utilities ducts, cables, and pipes in locations
where the Contractor will drive guardrail posts. Repair damages done to the facilities despite the location or if shown in the
contract at no cost to the State.

STEP 2: Remove the W Beam, Channel Post and Channel Packer


Material will be replaced along the road side which need to be install.

STEP 3: Custom W Beam


Cut to size W Beam estimate around 2meter for both side starting and ending part for jacking area.

STEP 4: Reinstall the Channel Post at new point section


When using a suitable method, the Contractor may drive only Channel posts, except those with anchors, into the ground
(Mounted Post with base plate). The post position shall be allocate facing the safe direction of traffic. The alignment and
finished level of post and guardrail shall be set accurately on site. All post will be drive in based on approved depth level
and maintain an accurate vertical alignment by using measuring tape, alignment string, steel rod, spanner and leveling
ruler. JCB with vibrate stamping head or vibrating post hydraulic pile driver is type of machine use to install the post.
While, spacing of post to post is depends on engineer approval.

STEP 5: Reinstall the Channel Packer


Connect all packer into the post installed with hex bolt, nut & washer.

STEP 6: Reinstall the Guardrail Beam


Install the rail elements fixed to present a flowing post alignment with post bolt, nut and washer. Guardrail Beam lap join
shall be in direction of adjacent traffic. Start with 2meter W Beam at starting point and last section for ending.

STEP 7: Reinstall the Delineator


Quantity and spacing of double or single sided delineator is based on engineer requirement.

STEP 8: Finishing
Ensure all bolts & nuts is tighten up and refer to requirement either spot welding is needed to prevent theft. Based on site
or soil condition, Concrete base of post will apply if soil condition is waterlogged type. Final check Guardrail Beam post
and packer finishing according to requirement.
