28. A lot consists of 48 mobile phones of which 42 are good, 3 have minor defects and 3
have major defects. Varnika will buy a mobile if it is good but the trader will only but a mobile if
it has no major defect. One phone is selected at random from the lot. What is the probability
that it is:
A) acceptable to Varnika? B) acceptable to the trader?
29. An isosceles triangle ABC has been inscribed in a circle in which AB = AC. Prove that the
tangent at A is parallel to BC.
30. In Figure 2, two concentric circles with Centre O, have radii 21cm and 42cm. If ∠AOB =

32. 150 spherical marbles, each of diameter 1.4cm, are drop in a cylindrical vessel of a
diameter of 7cm containing some water, which are completely immersed in water. Find the rise
in the level of water in the vessel.

34. Two stations are located at a distance of “a” and “b” from the foot of a leaning tower,
that leans in the direction of the stations. If α and β be the elevations of the top of the tower
from these stations, show that the inclination of the tower to the horizontal is given by

partly constant and partly proportional to the number of guests. The expense amount of 7
guests is Rs 650, and Rs 970 for 11 guests.
(Let the constant expenses be denoted by x and the proportional expenses per person by y)
