DIOS, UNION, LIBERTAD. The delegate of el Salvador is proud to say that this is national
slogan of its country. Good morning to the honourable chair members and my fellow
delegates. The delegate of El Salvador brings you the greetings from the land of surf,
volcanoes, coffee and bitcoin. Everything on this list is easy to verify for any of the visitors
been to EL SALVADOR. The Arctic regions legal status has been widely disputed . Its strategic
importance lies is in its potential as a trade route and for the large amount of undiscovered oil
in this region .As a result of the increasing competition for the dominance over the region,
countries have been engaging in more aggressive tactics to establish influence in the Arctic
by stepping up on their military presence in the region. Not only does it impose threats on
the rights of the indigenous peoples inhabiting the Polar Circle, this increase in military
activity and scramble for resources could destabilise the situation in the region. We stand by
the policies of our ally nations to promote peace , security and meeting the sdg goals in the
arctic region. El Salvador having no direct relation to the arctic circle still stands here to
affirm the nations that if help is required then we always stand here and will always try to
help nations to a extent which it can and protect our world from this global crisis. The
republic of el Salvador would like to propose some solutions that could arrange for sustainable
development of Arctic resources, do the seafloor mapping that’s needed to sort out the conflicting
territorial claims, set technological standards for ships that navigate the icy waters and guard the
welfare of four million people living within the Arctic Circle. Being the representative of one of
the smallest countries in north America, would like to humbly remind you that the united
nations were not built to divide, to destroy or to subjugate but rather to meet each other, to
build a better community of countries and to seek solutions to global problems
