Students will be able to

write inequalities.

Students will be able to

graph inequalities.

Essential Question: How

can you use addition or

subtraction to solve

inequalities?

Introduction: We will be

moving onto 4.2 today.

We will be expanding on

what we learned

yesterday. If we have

extra time today, we can

do a multiplication

knockout.

Anticipatory Set:

Students will complete

math warm-up #51 in

schoology which is in a

google forms document.

(Progress throughout the

year is tracked through

these)

Procedures:

● Direct: Review how

to complete a

1-step equation

without using an

inequality

● On the next slide,

show the same

process of a 1-step

equation. Then,

graph the

inequality.

Emphasize the

closed and open

circles depending

on the symbol

● Guided: Have the

students complete

their own
problems. Walk

around class to

assist students.

● Direct: Do the

next problem, but

show how the

graph will change if

you use the

greater than or

equal to inequality

on the graph.

● Guided: Have the

students complete

the “On your own”

problems

● Have the students

take out their

white boards for

the error analysis

slides. Have them

show their work

and be able to

describe the

errors

● Go over the
real-world

application

problems. Identify

key words and

numbers first.

Make sure to

convert inches into

feet for an exact

inequality. Make

sure to graph.

● Independent: Have

the students start

4.2 practice A

which is on

schoology.

Accommodations:

● CS and WPS need

nonverbal

directioning for

executive

functioning. Use

peace sign or #1

sign to redirect.

● AK, IM, JP and EU

need pacing

support to reduce

rushing or stalling.

● If students

become too

distracted on their

iPad, they have the

ability to take

notes on paper.
